Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications For Provisional Appointment:

One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Environmental Program Specialist 1*.

• Please be advised, an exam announcement for the Environmental Program Specialist 2 has been issued (Exam Number 31-161) and the written test is scheduled to be held on August 3, 2024. To be eligible for provisional appointment, in addition to meeting these minimum qualifications, you must also be registered for this exam.

Minimum Qualifications For Permanent Appointment:

Reassignment

• Currently in the title and an employee of DEC

or

Reinstatement Eligible

• Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.

or

Transfer Eligible: One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 21 or higher and:

Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: One year of permanent competitive service as a Climate Policy Analyst 2, Environmental Analyst 2, Environmental Radiation Specialist 2, Environmental Specialist 2, Forester 2, Public Participation Specialist 2, Public Participation Specialist 3, Sanitary Construction Inspector 3

Duties Description The incumbent will oversee the Data Quality and Systems Maintenance Unit within the Permit Information Management Section of the Division of Environmental Permits. Specific duties will include leading the Data Quality and Data Maintenance Unit, including prioritization, delegation, and staff supervision; managing the weekly Environmental Notice Bulletin publication as required by regulation; leading development, testing, and issue reporting for new system integration and legacy system enhancements; overseeing and maintaining data standards and data quality/data assurance for permitting information in multiple permitting information systems and data types; overseeing the preparation of statistical reports and permitting metrics; managing Help Desk for user support for permitting software systems; and training junior staff on permitting software systems and tools, data standards, and business processes.
