Job Description and Duties

Join the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) and play a crucial role in conserving and enhancing the state's natural resources. As the Salmon Strategy Implementation Coordinator, you will lead multi-disciplinary teams in implementing strategies to preserve and restore California's salmon populations, collaborating with various stakeholders, tribes, and government agencies to achieve our conservation goals.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to provide programmatic-level technical and policy direction to our Salmon Strategy Implementation Teams. The ideal candidate will excel in coordinating across teams, providing consistent guidance, and fostering collaboration to overcome implementation barriers. This role requires expertise in policy negotiation, technical strategy formulation, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include coordinating Implementation Team meetings, formulating and administering implementation strategies, providing technical and policy direction to multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating efforts across teams to ensure consistent policy direction and technical guidance, serving as the CDFW liaison with other governmental agencies and tribes on implementation actions, and representing CDFW in complex policy negotiations.

This position is a 12-month Limited Term (LT) and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

  3. Please give an example of a large and complex project you have managed. Describe your implementation strategies, including how you prioritized actions, tracked progress, and reported outcomes internally and externally.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Extensive experience in environmental science, natural resource management, public policy or related field with a strong understanding of salmon conservation issues. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience in programmatic level coordination, project management, and performance tracking.
