What you will accomplish

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations for pipeline and other oil and gas related construction activities.

  • Project work may include Federal land management, oil and gas development, transportation, water resources, renewable energy, transmission/pipelines, mining, habitat restoration, wildfire monitoring, and watershed studies.

  • Supervise installation and maintenance of BMPs, erosion control devices (ECDs), and environmental exclusion areas during construction.

  • Use topographic maps, GPS units, aerial photographs, and other maps and tools in the field.

Experience and qualifications for success

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental consulting inspection of oil and gas/pipeline projects required.

  • Able to inspect pipelines and oil & gas related facilities.

  • Familiar with soil erosion control and BMP installation and maintenance.

  • Familiar with agricultural mitigation plans/drain tile repair.

  • Able to work in remote areas, use ATVs or other four-wheel drive type vehicles.

  • Must have a clean driving record and pass a background check.

VIEW JOBS 11/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-15T00:00 Position Description This position will be the responsibility of the Ultraviolet Low Volume (ULV) Night Supervisor and Assistant ULV Night Supervisors, but during months when mosquito-borne diseases are absent this position may be reassigned to supervisory personnel from other sections within the division. ULV Applications * Performs appropriate control measures to mosquito populations in assigned areas as required. * Accurately enters data in Ultra Low Volume (ULV) monitoring systems. * Applies insecticides by driving truck-mounted ULV spray equipment through assigned areas at night. * Monitors environmental and mechanical conditions during insecticidal applications to ensure accurate delivery of material. * Uses pesticides in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines. * Records all insecticide usage. Winter Season Task/Other * Assists in washing trucks and ULV equipment. * Assists in preventative maintenance on ULV equipment. * Assists in testing ULV and tracking equipment performance before spray season starts. * Performs FMCO yard maintenance and cleanup as needed. * Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by ULV Night supervisors. * Performs other duties as assigned including special tasks involved in responding to emergency events; may be assigned to other sections of Mosquito and Vector Control, or other Divisions within Harris County Public Health (HCPH) Department. Harris County is an Equal Opportunity Employer https://hrrm.harriscountytx.gov/Pages/EqualEmploymentOpportunityPlan.aspx Requirements * High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; and * Four (4) years of stable employment history. * Must be willing to work evening and night schedules. * Experience reading and comprehending road maps. * Must comprehend chemical labels and be willing to work with control-related chemicals (e.g. insecticides) * Must be able to operate the keyboard interface of the ULV Monitor 4 spray system used in the spray truck fleet. * Valid Driver's License (Texas upon hire) along with a good driving record. Additional Requirements: * Must obtain a Pesticide Applicator License from the Texas Department of Agriculture within one (1) year of employment. Environmental and Physical Demands: * Must be able to lift 70 lbs., be in good physical health. * Ability to tolerate high heat and humidity for extended periods of time outdoors while working in a variety of urban and natural environments.
