Job Duties

Serves as a supervisor in the environmental health program with formal administrative,

programmatic and performance management responsibilities for multiple staff in

support of work unit goals and objectives. Certifications of the Environmental Health

Specialist Senior are required if performing inspections or evaluations of that level. The

Environmental Health Technical Specialist certifications are preferred but required if

performing the duties

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of the relevant program and ability to

provide effective supervision and leadership

  • Certifications of the Environmental Health Specialist Senior are required if

performing inspections or evaluations of that level

  • The Environmental Health Technical Specialist certifications are preferred

but required if performing the duties

Additional Considerations

  • Experience in Environmental Health Services

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Special Police Commission issued by the Norfolk Police Department to issue Notices of Violation for matter pertaining to all local ordinances and write Virginia Uniform Summons, and appear/testify in court.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Category 8 Pesticide Applicators License.
