The Environment Health and Safety department is responsible for development and implementation of programs aimed at protecting the campus community and providing compliance with numerous federal, state, and local regulatory statutes. This department reports to the Senior Associate Vice President for Administration in the Division of Business and Financial Affairs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health or Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental control, occupational safety, or other general health and safety disciplines.

Key Qualifications

  • AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector certification is preferred.
  • AHERA Asbestos Contractor Supervisor certification is preferred.
  • CDPH Lead Inspector Assessor certification is preferred.
  • 40 HAZWOPER certification is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

San Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. San Diego State University also offers a rich benefits package that includes:

Anticipated hiring range: $65,000- $74,000 annually
