Company Profile: EHS Specialist
This company specializes in complex machining solutions in a production and non-production environment, utilizing the latest machine tool tech and lean practices. This company is a small but stable organization backed by strong financials from their much larger mother company.
THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY: Senior EHS Manager
Works to ensure compliance with EH&S regulations and permit requirements.
EH&S record keeping and timely submission of periodic reports to regulatory agencies.
Lead emergency response activities following spills and releases.
Maintain ISO 14001 Environmental compliance system and air/water emission improvement programs and solid/hazardous waste programs.
Support and review emergency programs (facilitate drills).
Interface with regulatory authorities as appropriate.
Lead Job Safety Assessments and other elements of safety integral to EHS performance.
Develop and revise safety plans.
Prioritize major hazards and risks, and ensure actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate risks.
Assist and/or lead incident investigations and participate in management review of all serious incidents.
Lead, coordinate, and participate in EH&S performance improvement initiatives.
Provide support and guidance to safety committee as a member.
Participate in annual budget development process.
Lead internal audits and coordinate external EH&S audits, close audit findings and implement audit recommendations.
Identify and track Safety and Enviro metrics, providing information to employees and management.
Implement and maintain EH&S management systems in support of the company EH&S policies and standards.
Track, report, and analyze the EH&S performance and implement corrective action as necessary.
Develop and maintain action items.
Develop, review, and adjust safety and environmental training programs.
Create computer-based training.
Train as appropriate on requirements and procedures for EH&S compliance:
Leadership & Capability Building
Conduct regular reviews with leadership and prioritize EH&S issues.
Act as a liaison between corporate EH&S & company.
Working knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Programs).
Working knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing techniques.
Internally manage workers compensation claims, acting as a liaison between company and third-party claim management organization.
Direct supervision toward appropriate light duty tasks for injured personnel.BACKGROUND PROFILE: EHS Specialist
Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental, Occupational Science or equivalent through combination of training and experience
Minimum of 5 years experience in the environmental, health, and safety field
Ability to prioritize effectively, have an eye toward practical cost-effective solutions.
Must be familiar with safety and environmental regulations including air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste.
Should possess strong, training, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
Should have strong oral, written communication skills as well as computer skills.COMMUNITY: Metropolitan Seattle, WA
