Responsibilities

An HSE Speicalist (Health, Safety, and Environment) Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of Celanese employees, protecting the environment, and maintaining compliance with regulations in various units (shipping and utilities) Here's an overview of their key responsibilities:

  • Unit resource for occupational safety, process safety and environmental compliance.

  • Work very closely with Site Stewardship Team to align on site directives and goals

  • Interact with other Stewardship Leaders to ensure policies requierements and best prctices are applied evenly across multiple units

  • Ensure Unit achieves and demonstrates compliance to relevant health & safety regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as a primary Unit subject matter expert for Safe Work Practices.

  • Field evaluation of procedure usage as defined by SQRE plan

  • Lead in field review of safety and environmental policies with 24/7 team, Manufacturing Experts and Reliability SMEs

  • Develop and lead programs to drive improvement in employee engagement and safety culture.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related industry experience (chemical or refinery)

  • BS in related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Work experience in petrochemical plant operations or safety.

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret health and safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and NFPA.

  • Experience with development and implementation of safety procedures and practices.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrate passion for continuous improvement of employee engagement and safety culture

  • Process Safety Management.

Desired:

  • Safety certifications and training (CSP, OSHA, CSST etc.)
  • Basic Process Safety and Envornmental knowledge
