It is the function of the site Environmental Health and Safety manager to manage the plant EHS activities within the plant location thus ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations, applicable codes, and corporate policies pertaining to EH&S. The plant operation has the responsibility of providing Trex's diverse business units with the products they require in a timely fashion, at consistent, specified, levels of quality and at a total cost capable of providing competitive leverage. This objective is accomplished in an environment of continuous improvement in quality and productivity with the optimal utilization of human and physical assets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, manage, and lead Site safety programs to keep safety awareness high and ensure that all employees are aware that safety is the company's number one priority.
Audit Site safety procedures and processes to maintain compliance. Ensure all required inspections are current and all documentation is accurate.
Manage Site industrial hygiene programs.
Develop, manage, and lead Site environmental activities to ensure compliance with all local, state, federal rules and regulations.
Develop, manage, and lead Site Safety Committee, Emergency Response Team, and Industrial Fire Brigade.
Manage and coordinate site insurance activities with hazard and workers compensation insurance brokers.
Support environmental, health, and safety activities at the corporate level including field sales and purchasing representatives.
Prepare the annual site budget for the operation based upon forecasted sales, costs of raw materials, and production requirements.
Maintain an active and effective cost savings program in all aspects of the business.
Bachelor's degree in physical sciences or engineering.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in an EHS management role in a manufacturing environment.
Industrial health, compliance and monitoring programs. Environmental, including air, water waste permits, testing, regulated waste disposal, and compliance. Industrial safety, OSHA, NIOSHA, NFPA, rules, regulations, and compliance. Industrial Emergency Response Teams and Fire Brigades.
Strong computer literacy including extensive computer skills with experience in Word, Excel, Access.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
