POSITION SCOPE
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for supporting the environmental, health, and safety processes within the non-refining operations. This individual will lead the EHS efforts at Buffalo, NY and Nashville, TN locations based on objectives set forth for the business unit. The position reports directly to the Senior Regional EHS Manager, North America and has the responsibility of implementation and evaluation of critical safety processes, programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvement related to compliance as well as injury reduction.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management, Safety Management, Environmental Engineering, Risk Management or a related Technical Field.
Professional certification (ASP, CSP, etc.) is a plus.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Implements, manages, and monitors all environmental, health, safety, and programs at multiple non-refining operation locations.
Works with the management teams and associates to instill a genuine culture of awareness and responsibility at the site
Provides management team with guidance on EHS regulations in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations.
Manage workers' compensation program and the return-to-work program.
Walk the site on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.
Conduct individual and group training and presentations for environmental, health and safety progams/policies and accident prevention.
Responds to on-site emergencies and incidents.
Monitors the workplace daily to ensure all activities continually contribute to our EHS goals.
Verify that all work is performed in accordance with all internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.
Document reports of incidents and record statistical information.
Work in a team environment where responsibilities for injury/illness prevention, compliance assurance, safety auditing, incident investigation, and employee training are incumbent on both the leadership team and the individual.
Lead employee engagement efforts including oversight of safety and environmental committees and the internal EHS audits/inspections.
Prepares weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
5+ years of environmental, health, and safety experience in manufacturing operations.
Knowledgeable on federal, state, and local regulations as well as relevant consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA).
Workers' Compensation Claims Management experience.
Return-To-Work Program Management experience.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Knowledge of Behavioral Safety Auditing techniques.
Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis education or experience.
Ability to coach and train employees.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (to include but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict and reach agreement with others.
Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and walk throughout the workday
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations
