Please note, this internship is not eligible for benefits and will be located at our manufacturing facility in Sandy Springs, SC.

Main Objective:

Support in daily tasks, while gaining functional experience in a medical device manufacturing environment. Assist in all training, permit applications, industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling, validations, audits, and inspections.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating adequacy of safety controls (PPE, administrative and Engineering) through OSHA and internal standards.

  • Complex equipment machine safety validations via checklists.

  • Assist with developing and reviewing basic safety training classes. (content review, documentation, scheduling)

  • Performing basic Job Hazard Analysis and Chemical Hazard Analysis.

Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree majoring in Environmental, Health & Safety or Engineering/Engineering Technology

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Familiarity with OSHA standards

  • Identification, evaluation and control of workplace & environmental hazards in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment

Skills:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel

  • Standard office equipment (scanner, fax, copier)

The successful candidate for this position must be able to attend initial training in the Naples, FL area if/as needed by Arthrex. Main Objective: To oversee, manage and provide direction to the manufacturing department that will effectively and profitably meet or exceed the internal and /or external client's expectations by providing superior quality products and service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Recommends proper staffing levels based on production needs for area of responsibility * Monitors production plan by consistently meeting daily production schedules and reports status * Provides detailed daily communication to managers and fellow supervisors via email passdown * Gives input for introduction of new products and processes into the plant * Provides proper and timely training of staff * Ensures operator rotation program is functional * Encourages a continuous process improvement environment * Recognizes and addresses process problems regularly * Assures proper maintenance of equipment and tooling * Monitors employee performance through goal setting * Perform attendance and time clock management * Ensures proper communication between shifts and crews covering production status, backorders, quality, safety and other production issues * Ensures daily housekeeping and organization standards are followed * Delegates responsibility and works with others to develop their capabilities * Disciplines and discharges employees with the assistance of HR * Reviews, counsels, evaluates, disciplines, hires and discharges employees with the assistance of HR * Comply with LEAN initiatives and create culture of accountability in a LEAN environment * Assists employees with professional development/trainingMonitors and executes corrective actions to reduce/eliminate scrap * Performs Safety training for direct reports. Education and Experience: * Bachelor's Degree (strongly preferred) or equivalent experience (e.g., 8+ years of prior supervisory experience in manufacturing) * Three years of manufacturing experience required, preferably in a CNC machining environment. * Three years of supervisory experience required, five or more preferred. CNC Machining environment preferred. * Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment is desirable * Experience with computerized manufacturing system is preferred (Oracle, SAP, etc.) * Train-the-Trainer Certification, or equivalent desired Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training: * Demonstrated process improvement skills * The ability to prioritize, work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and work under time constraints * Requires computer knowledge of Windows * Able to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, using spoken and written English * Must have leadership skills and be able to effectively supervise and motivate team members * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and / or schedule form Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: Wire EDM's, Laser Weld/Marking equipment, Ultrasonic cleaners, Passivation equipment. Demonstrates good computer skills. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
