The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer will design/draft operational strategies and process improvements. Responsibilities include electrical safety, job safety analyses, chemical safety, lab safety, industrial hygiene, contractor safety, training, emergency response, and EHS compliance. The EHS Engineer will ensure compliance to all applicable local, federal, and international environmental, health, and safety regulations. This position reports to the Facilities Manager and will work onsite at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon.

Job Duties:

  • Implement and drive comprehensive EHS programs that include policies, procedures, training, communication, and recording keeping

  • Advise management on all regulatory contacts, inquiries, and responses including administration of EHS permitting requirements

  • Drive awareness and accountability for environmental, health and safety performance throughout all levels of the organization; create a Safety Culture and adopt best practices

  • Provide regular summary reports and analysis on environmental, health, and safety activities

  • Work with leadership team to identify and implement EHS improvement opportunities based on employee feedback, observation, and data trends

  • Assess job hazards and collaborate with department managers to ensure equipment, processes, and tasks meet regulatory requirements and minimize risks

  • Lead Safety Committee

  • Help design emergency response preparedness and emergency action plans

  • Investigate all safety incidents/accidents using root cause methodology to obtain resolution

  • Provide new hire training and ongoing employee EHS training

  • Evaluate processes and procedural documents for increased efficiencies and opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Support ZincFive's drive towards ISO14001 and ISO45001 certifications

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or equivalent years of experience

  • 5 years' experience in chemical management, wastewater regulations, PPE, and air quality standards

  • 1 year experience working with government agencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Experience with overseeing third party consultants and contractors

  • Valid driver license required to drive locally using personal vehicle

  • CPR/AED certified or ability to receive certification within 30 days of employment

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with NFPA 70E procedures and training programs

  • Professional certifications in environmental or health and safety related programs

  • Experience in a manufacturing, battery, or other power-related field

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Warehouse, manufacturing, and office environments

  • Sites under construction

  • Works primarily in an office environment with frequent walkthroughs and inspections of labs, manufacturing, warehouse areas with exposure to various weather conditions when working outdoors

  • Walking, bending, stooping, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to climb ladders

  • Exposure to warehouse and hazardous materials, high voltage, and chemicals

  • Drive locally using personal vehicle

Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.
