Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Engineer to join our team in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards. This role will involve developing, implementing, and managing programs and initiatives to promote a safe and healthy work environment while minimizing environmental impact. The EHS Engineer will work closely with various departments to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls and training programs. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders at all levels.

Scope of responsibilities/expectation:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs per regulatory requirements, ISO 14001 requirements and ISO 45001 requirements to ensure compliance, injury prevention and risk mitigation.

  • Ensure EHS related monitoring and measurement (such as air emission, water waste, non-hazardous waste streams, industrial hygiene) is carried out, monitor the trending, and carry out analysis/investigation when necessary.

  • Conduct EHS site audits, inspections and routine walkabout including report generation and initiate/tracking corrective actions.

  • Conduct Safety and Health Risk assessment and job hazard analysis and implement any needed control measures.

  • Collaborate with different functions to support the site recycling and waste minimization efforts.

  • Ensure the hazardous waste is managed as per local regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate EHS training for employees and conduct instructor-led training when necessary.

  • Lead or assist in incident investigations including initial follow-up, root cause analysis, and closure of action.

  • Coordinate with Facilities and Security to develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.[YA1]

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.

  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist) preferred.

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA) and occupational health and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with EHS benchmarking software like Gensuite or VelocityEHS is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
