Environmental Health Safety Engineer

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position provides support to all managers & supervisors by making sure the company is in compliance with state & federal regulations regarding safety & environmental issues, including incident investigations.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Responsible for MNA locations compliance with OSHA, EPA Regulations, & ISO 45001

• Creates/revises/implements OSHA & EPA training, tracks safety training

• Creates/revises/implements & monitors safety/environmental policies

• Compiles & disseminates accident trends by department to supervisors/managers

• Communicates with other plant location safety personnel on incidents and horizontal deployment

• Coordinates ISO 14001 program.

• Manages Workers Compensation claims

• Directs Safety Committee activities, and monthly safety audits, track supervisor monthly audits

• Directs supervisors and management in incident/accident investigations.

• Partner with NNA security as needed

• Communicates frequently with internal contacts and occasionally with external contacts on various issues

• Responsible for administration and tracking of all site safety and EHS training initiatives

• Plans, deploys, and tracks all safety and EHS communications

• Performs other duties as necessary

WORKING CONDITIONS

This work is performed in a manufacturing and office environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must:

• Have a high school diploma or GED.

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline and generally five plus years experience in related field

• or-

• An advanced degree and generally four plus years of experience in a related field.

• Certification may be required in some areas.

• Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications.

• Have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.

• Be able to pass all background checks and pre-employment tests, including any required drug test.

• Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

Intermediate to advanced experience (beyond basic data entry) working with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, and other presentation applications and/or software.
