We are currently seeking an experienced EHS Engineer to assist our Northeast Regional EHS Manager to provide overall leadership to assigned manufacturing facilities in the Eastern United States and provide support for corporate EHS initiatives. The position is located in Pine Brook, NJ and requires travel up to 30% including worldwide travel up to 5%. We are conveniently located close to Routes 80, 287, and 46. Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance at the Federal, State and Local levels. Duties also include planning, developing, and delivery of safety training and management of hazardous & non-hazardous waste, air quality and water quality programs. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who possesses problem solving, project management and interpersonal skills to direct the activities of our manufacturing facilities as they relate to environmental and safety operations.

Requirements/Experience:

  • Ten or more years of combined progressive responsibility for health, safety and environmental programs in multi-site high tech manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in environment, safety, engineering or science.

  • Working knowledge of U.S. environmental & safety regulations at both the federal and state level, as well as major international regulations such as REACH and WEEE.

  • Maintains compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, EPA, OSHA and other EHS regulations.

  • Audit experience in safety and environmental areas.

  • Support contract review process to identify and qualify facilities' abilities to meet customer requirements.

  • Ability to anticipate and handle multiple priorities and complex/abstract issues.

  • Able to balance financial, operational, safety and environmental objectives.

  • Effective communicator with co-workers, customers, suppliers and third party auditors.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate people.

  • Experience with emergency operations and development of contingency plans.

  • Ability to travel 25-30% including worldwide travel up to 5%.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook.

In this role, you will work within a team of engineers and technicians on projects and specific tasks related to the growth of Silicon Carbide single crystals and substrate manufacturing. We seek an individual who can investigate and model experimental data to establish correlations and trends. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who possesses problem solving and project management skills as well as interpersonal skills and can generate scientific and technical ideas and can contribute to the Intellectual Property portfolio of II-VI Advanced Materials by writing IP disclosures and patents. Requirements/Experience/Knowledge: * 8-10 years of crystal growth experience and hands-on experience with semiconductor technology, electronic or optoelectronic materials and devices. PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Solid State Physics or Semiconductor Device Physics. * Knowledge of crystal growth and related physical/chemical phenomena, including thermodynamics of chemical reactions, heat and mass transfer. * Experience in defect density characterization, analysis, optimization and problem resolution. * Extensive experience in proposal report writing and presentation preparation in a contract R&D environment. * Ability to respond to emerging market demands or government requirements for new types of crystal products by developing innovative engineering solutions and adjusting growth processes. * Fluency with scientific tools used for data analysis and modeling such as Mathcad, Origin, LabView or similar. * Leads a task team on a particular aspect of crystal growth such as scaling up crystal diameter, improving growth process efficiency, enhancing yields and throughput. * Organizes and schedules full characterization of crystals, wafers, and seeds in the context of R&D and commercial manufacturing by utilizing internal and external characterization methods and capabilities. * Uses statistical tools to perform in-depth characterization of technological processes to determine process reliability and bottlenecks.
