The mission of the Kentucky Department for Public Health is to improve the health and safety of people through prevention, promotion, and protection. The department oversees programs designed to improve the lives of citizens and visitors through prevention of negative health outcomes, promotion of healthy lifestyles and protection from diseases, injury, and environmental health impacts. Responsibilities and Duties:
Conduct inspections, sampling, and equipment test on Grade A and Manufacturing Grade Dairy operations.
Conduct Inspections on Grade A and Manufacturing Grade Dairy Farms.
Conduct Inspections of Milk Transport Trucks, Milk Hauler, Milk Samplers, Transfer Stations, and Truck Washing Station.
Work with FDA and USDA on Plants and Farms while conducting Interstate Milk Shipper Ratings.
Work with Kentucky Milk Safety in developing Policies and Procedures to help ensure safety in the milk industry.

Self-Scheduling.
Ability to work with others.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree with a minor or twenty-four (24) semester hours in environmental health, biological health or physical science.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of professional regulatory experience or experience in health administration, health service occupation, milk/food laboratory quality control or milk/food industry.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be registered as an Environmental Health Specialist/Sanitarian under the provisions of KRS 223 within twelve (12) months of appointment and maintain this registration for the length of employment in this job title. https://chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dph/dphps/emb/Pages/sanitarians.aspx .
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title will require frequent traveling to conduct inspections.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
