Job Description Job Description Environmental Health and Safety Specialist (EH&SS) Job Overview: Savage Search Associates is representing one of our favorite clients in search of an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist in Dallas, TX location.

Our client is a fast-growing chemical & raw materials distribution company who specialize in catering to the entire North American market. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Technical Support:

Provide professional support regarding applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations and issues at the site. Compile Environmental, Health, and Safety data to support completion of regulatory reports. Research and identify agency-specific EH&S regulatory requirements and provide recommendations.

Training and Development: Conduct and develop training programs for new employees and contractors. Assist in the development and implementation of EH&S training programs.

Conduct monthly safety meetings. Policy Implementation: Assist in the development and implementation of written EH&S policies and procedures.

Work with plant departments to manage PPE inventories. Issue safety permits as defined by EH&S policies. Program Management:

Implement the facility's California Accidental Release Program. Implement the facility's hazardous waste management program. Facilitate the development and implementation of EH&S programs and initiatives to support the facility’s compliance programs, RC14001 System, and facility/corporate goals.

Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and standards. Develop, deploy, and audit EH&S employee training programs. Safety Oversight:

Provide oversight to plant safety and Emergency Response Teams. Create plant safety protocols and conduct periodic safety audits. Ensure the location has a written Crisis Communication plan and lead periodic drills.

Occupational Health: Oversee the administration of the Occupational Medical Surveillance Program for the site. Coordinate Process Safety Management programs in collaboration with Production and Maintenance.

Environmental Management: Manage complex environmental matters related to groundwater, air permitting, SWPPP, and SPCC. Maintain an EH&S recordkeeping system that provides timely reporting both internally and to external agencies.

Manage EH&S projects and programs cost-effectively. Audits and Inspections: Perform and assist with plant-wide and departmental EH&S audits.

Conduct daily plant observations/audits.

Conduct bi-weekly plant audits with departmental personnel and assist with audit documentation and action items. Conduct Job Safety Analysis, PPE assessments, and risk assessments for all plant positions.

Conduct EH&S equipment inspections, including fire extinguishers, spill kits, eye wash, and safety shower equipment. Corrective Actions: Implement corrective actions from internal/external audits, inspections, and observations.

Coordinate and manage the OSHA on-site consultation program. Participate in on-site customer audits as needed. Project Engineering Support: · Assist the plant engineering department in ensuring the safety of planning and executing capital projects.

Incident Management: Facilitate incident investigations and root cause analyses. Other Duties:

Perform other duties as required and directed by the Plant Manager. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Compliance, Engineering, Process Safety, Chemistry, or a related discipline from an accredited university. Minimum 4 years of experience in the chemical industry.

Knowledge and experience in chemical manufacturing processes. Experience performing audits and developing Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) systems and responses. Well-versed in all aspects of OSHA, DOT, and EH&S regulatory requirements.

Extremely detail-oriented, self-motivated, and excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to travel to local and national destinations. Working Environment (Physical/Mental Demands): The physical and mental capacity to effectively perform all essential job duties and responsibilities.

Ability to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks. Ability to focus and multi-task in a busy environment and maintain composure in potentially stressful situations. Maintain effective and professional relationships with executives, staff, customers, vendors, and governmental agencies.

Access to and maintenance of confidential and sensitive information. Must undergo and meet company standards for background checks, drug testing, and behavioral assessments. Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.

Ability to verbally communicate both in person and via telephone.
