Summary:
The EHS Specialist I is a member of the EHS team and reports to the EHS Manager. This advanced role is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and administration of the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. The role will work closely with the EHS team to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, Daikin requirements, and to promote a culture of safety throughout the site.
Foster a culture of active engagement, ensuring a workplace where individuals feel secure and supported. Strategically plan, lead, and execute organizational safety initiatives to establish a work environment that is both safe and conducive to well-being, minimizing accidents and promoting health.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cultivate a safety-focused culture that prioritizes the well-being of individuals, ensuring they feel valued, heard, and integral to our operations.
Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify and address hazards and risks.
Assist in the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
Support and maintain chemical management documentation, new equipment, and approval process.
Monitor and analyze EHS data, trends, and metrics to identify areas of improvement and support implementation of corrective actions.
Assist the EHS leader in the preparation of EHS reports and presentations.
Assist EHS leader in leading EHS committees and teams to drive continuous improvement.
Support and maintain the improvements of EMS (ISO 14001) and SMS (ISO 45001) document control and systems.
Conducts or coordinates training to educate employees about safety policies, laws, and best practices.
Assists site supervisors in investigations of incidents and severe incidents to prevent recurrence.
Assist in the collection of samples for different testing analysis (i.e., storm water, chemicals, etc.).
Assisting in the conducting of risk assessments and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Provide EHS technical support for site specific initiative and projects.
Promote Daikin's goal of zero (accidents, emissions, etc...).
Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations and industry best practices.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
2-year associate degree in EHS or related field required.
4-year bachelor's degree in EHS or related field strongly preferred.
Taproot and OSHA 30 Hour certification preferred.
Minimum 2 years' experience in EHS or manufacturing required.
5 years' experience in EHS of manufacturing strongly preferred.
