The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), an affiliate of the City of Hope, has an
opening for an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. TGen is an Arizona-based, nonprofit
medical research institute founded in 2002, dedicated to conducting groundbreaking research
with life-changing results. Research areas include the genetic components of common and
complex diseases including cancer, neurological disorders, and infectious diseases. TGen is
headquartered in Phoenix and TGen North, the Pathogen Genomics Division, is located in
Flagstaff.
Under the supervision of the Sr. Manager of Environmental Health and Safety, the
Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will provide support for a comprehensive, Institute-

employees, students and visitors. Support for the EH&S program can include, but is not limited
to, risk assessment and management, hazardous materials monitoring, safety data sheet
management, laboratory safety inspections, and development and delivery of safety training
courses. The EH&S specialist will provide administrative support to TGen's safety committees
including the Institutional Biosafety Committee that oversees recombinant and synthetic
nucleic acids research and the Laboratory Safety Committee that works directly with lab staff
on safety program needs.
