Assist with the site implementation of Corporate developed environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs and systems. Implements proactive programs designed to reduce workers' compensation costs, injuries and illnesses. Develops and provides environmental, safety and health training programs to ensure employee knowledge and understanding of safety and environmental regulations and requirements. Develops and maintains a recordkeeping system so that the facility is capable of verifying compliance with all applicable regulations. Submits all required reports to the regulatory agencies on a timely basis.

  • Working with manufacturing leaders, facilitates the maintenance of safe, healthy and environmentally friendly working conditions through training & educating employees in proper safety procedures, such as PPE, ergonomics and/or environmental concerns such as waste, hazard materials handling.

  • Assists with the preparation of safety meeting materials, facilitating safety committee meetings, conducting site assessments for adherence to company policies and programs and compliance with state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations

  • Recommends measures to reduce or eliminate industrial incidents and health hazards in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations, assist management in conducting accident investigations.

  • Conducts activities to ensure compliance with environmental terms and conditions, such as environmental permits, permit fees & recordkeeping.

  • Obtains all required permits for the processes, equipment or discharges generated at the facility.

  • Promptly addresses enforcement issues, accidents and control device malfunctions with the assistance of corporate EHS and legal.

  • Provides technical expertise to manufacturing, engineering and facilities personnel in evaluating the environmental, safety and health aspects of manufacturing processes, chemical use and building design.

  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with up to 3 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.

  • Able to translate previous work experience in to very good problem-solving skills and appropriately apply proven solutions. Consistently deliver prescribed outcomes in a timely and accurate manner with appropriate guidance. Apply existing processes and procedures to solve problems and may receive guidance for problems that are non-routine.

  • Able to apply very good functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC or other technical tools to complete work assignments. May require knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn specialized software related to the position.

  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to understand general business concepts and apply them when communicating with diverse groups of people when completing work assignments.

  • Good understanding of OSHA and environmental regulations

VIEW JOBS 2/15/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-05-16T00:00 The Regional Safety Manager will lead a team of site level Safety Supervisors to help create and sustain the safety culture at Wayfair. This leader will assure successful delivery of the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and driving/supporting the overall safety strategies. This leader will assure region of responsibility is compliant with all company, local, state and federal health and safety regulatory requirements. This leader must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the management and associate teams and influence change by way of risk assessments and safety data analysis. Job Responsibilities: * Support the overall safety strategy through partnership on development, implementation, and sustainability of safety programs. * Support Site Supervisors in the implementation and adherence to all aspects of the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP), including any/all associated programs. * Ensure site leadership and associates understand their responsibilities under the IIPP and other safety programs. * Ensure regional team has prioritized work load to support the reduction of probability and severity of injuries, as well as to support the overall safety strategy. * Ensure actions align with the overall safety strategy when possible, to gain standardization across all regions. * Ensure compliance with state & federal law as it applies to Life Safety, Lockout Tagout, Fall Protection, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Electrical Safety, Emergency Preparedness, and other programs as described in 29 CFR. * Ensure all required safety records, such as the OSHA 300 logs are accurately maintained in accordance with the law. * Accurately report metrics to local and network leadership. * Develop regional prevention plans that reduce risk, reduce the onset of injuries along with the direct/indirect costs attributed to them. * Analyze metrics and review incident trends to discover opportunities for allocating the appropriate resources to areas where risk is greatest. * Partner with Safety Team for soft tissue injury reduction efforts by proactively developing initiatives based on the exposures identified in each task (force, posture, and repetition). This should be achieved in an organized fashion and in partnership with Safety, Operations, and Engineering teams. * Audit training quality, delivery, and effectiveness. * Partner with necessary business partners to develop innovative solutions to promote associate involvement in health and safety programs. * Partner with Talent Management on workers' compensation program administration. * Be fiscally responsible and monitor costs and budgets as needed. * Partner with Director of Safety and other Regional Managers to leverage safety and environmental best practices into overall standards. * Other related duties as assigned or required. Minimum Qualifications: * Knowledge, skills, & abilities: * Demonstrated experience in occupational safety methods, standards and practices * Knowledge/experience with local, state and federal regulations, specifically OSHA 29 CFR 1910 * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Ability to communicate at all levels in organization * Ability to work in a team environment and achieve results * Lead, develop, mentor, and direct site Safety Supervisors * Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to handle multiple projects, and set priorities * Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy * Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability * Distribution Center or Manufacturing Safety experience * Experience leading change in a single or multi-site environment * Experience managing direct report(s) * Microsoft Office experience * Flexible regarding shift work * Ability to travel within region, up to 50% * Education level: * Bachelor's degree, preferably in safety or environmental health * Accredited safety education program completion or related safety management experience * Experience: * Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety or related field within a distribution or manufacturing environment, preferred Wayfair LLC Cranbury NJ
