We are looking for an EHS Leader for our Plymouth, MI Technical Center. The EHS Supervisor is responsible for coordinating facility activities relating to the Environmental Health & Safety and Security functions. This position is responsible for development and administration of site safety and environmental policies to ensure compliance with Tenneco, local, state, and federal regulations. This position is also responsible for administration and maintenance of the Plymouth and Ann Arbor Technical Centers EHS Management System to assure compliance with the requirements of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. The EHS Supervisor will work with other supervisors and Human Resources to create, maintain and improve safety systems, programs and training in the facility. The EHS Supervisor is responsible for forecasting and coordinating the operating and capital expenses related to this function.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Abilty to perform all of the duties and responsibilities of the EH&S Analyst and may be required to perform those duties due to business needs.

  • Manage the development and administration of facility safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Tenneco, local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Implement facility Management System and policies.

  • Serve as facility lead for local, state, and federal audits (EGLE, EPA, MI/OSHA, NRC).

  • Lead the machine safety program, in accordance with the Quality Standards for all legacy, modified and new machinery.

  • Provide full support to the operations team to ensure leadership and management of the safety program. Expand opportunities for psychological and physical safety in the workplace. Key efforts include: providing PPE, addressing individual concerns, providing general awareness in subjects such as injury avoidance, physical and mental health, and assisting in decision-making for routine and non-routine tasks.

  • Lead the investigation of all fires, chemical spills, gas releases, injuries, near-misses and employee concerns.

  • Manage the Radiation Safety program:

  • Maintain Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) certification and serve as the RSO for radioactive material safety program duties.

  • Manage dosimeter badges for authorized employees and communicate exposure results.

  • Conduct annual radiation leak checks.

  • Conduct annual radioactive materials safety program audit.

  • Collect bioassays and review total exposure to radioactive material workers; communicate exposure results.

  • Collect and review wipe sampling surveys.

  • Ensure radiation machine and radiaoctive material licenses are up to date.

  • Manage the Underground Storage Tank System.

  • Manage the Industrial Hygiene Program.

  • Analyze risk assessments and make business decisions regarding safety.

  • Lead and assist in the development of capital projects to meet business strategies and corporate goals while ensuring safety and compliance. Lead teams to achieve project goals. Manage budget and all project details. Projects include but are not limited to infrastructure changes and new testing capabilities (safely advancing internal combustion engine and general transportation initiatives).

  • Support facility contracts related to EHS (i.e., security).

  • Complete corporate second party audits and support local plants as needed. Take on a regional role as needed in the future.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of 2-5 years' experience in the Safety & Environmental field dealing with environmental regulations and OSHA standards. Experience in a technical center environment, or five (5) years Environmental, Health and Safety Management System experience. Strong analytical ability, ability to work independently with minimum supervision, strong interpersonal and presentation skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, excellent computer skills.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree, EHS required and or bachelor's degree with EHS certification.
