As an Environmental Health and Safety Intern you will design and develop risk and other procedural assessments.

What you'll do:

  • Utilize training management tool to review and deliver training on a variety of topics.

  • Perform audits and safety observations inside the foundry

  • Data cataloging/consolidation,

  • Research and responds to routine training requests

  • Participate in safety engagement teams

What you'll need:

  • Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, Hygiene, or Public Health or related field.

  • Experience in a manufacturing company during studies

  • Strong computer and presentation skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Professional competencies required: Learning on the Fly, Dealing with Ambiguity, Drive for Results, Organization

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Hatch is currently looking for a Health & Safety Advisor Intern to assist with health and safety activities, including office and associated project work. The Safety Advisor Intern will receive direction from Senior Safety Personnel and Technical Managers, to assist them with their mandates and projects. The successful candidate will support as directed the North American network of Hatch health and safety professionals and assist with the implementation of the Hatch Health and Safety Management System. The candidate must be adaptable, self-motivated, have the ability to work both independently as well as in a team environment, and be able to build and maintain strong relationships with both colleagues and external clients through excellent verbal and written communication. Responsibilities Include: * Assist in promoting an active health and safety culture * Assist in implementing our health and safety management systems and contribute to its continuous enhancement * Provide administrative support as required * Prepare and facilitate health and safety training * Prepare reports on health and safety * Assist with the administration and design of safety awareness programs * Promote effective communication and dissemination of relevant health and safety information * Support the planning, organizing, directing and monitoring of health and safety programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative and Hatch global requirements * Interface with field staff and support project site work * Assist with developing and participating in the inspection and audits of construction sites and offices * Assist with the development of project safety plans and programs * Liaise with Project Safety Leads on procedures and policies * Assist with and be able to perform job safety analysis, analyze operations, identify risks and implement preventative measures * Support senior staff with the coordination of incident investigations; document and supervise preventative and corrective action * Keep abreast of developments in health and safety legislation and practice Qualifications: * Candidates must be enrolled in a reputable Higher Educational Institution and seeking a Degree or certificate in occupational safety and health or a similar discipline * Understanding of worker safety standards and their applications, and a willingness to learn * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Must be able to work in a team environment * Creative problem-solving ability * Outward facing with good interpersonal skills * Self-motivated with good organizational capability What can we offer: * The opportunity to receive excellent mentorship from industry experts * Ability to apply your skills to challenging, interesting, and meaningful projects, while working alongside other highly intelligent and motivated people * An opportunity to work in exciting project site work environments in a constantly evolving industry We are committed to fostering a workforce in each of our locations that reflects the diversity of the communities in which we operate.
