The Opportunity:

This EHS Manager supports the global EHS strategy by driving EHS operations at our North America locations including corporate offices, distribution centers, and American Girl retail stores. In this position you will lead a team of EHS professionals with a focus on EHS performance improvement, develop partnerships and engage stakeholders at our North America site to ensure alignment to EHS programs and regulatory compliance, and develop annual operating plans to support the development and implementation EHS programs in our North America region.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Monitor and review EHS performance of responsible sites on a regular basis

  • Manage and support the implementation of Mattel EHS bulletins, policies, principles, procedures, and standards

  • Coordinate global EHS initiatives at the site level (through the respective site Safety Improvement Plan - SIP)

  • Support site leaders by partnering and strategizing to remove barriers to implementing /executing global EHS initiatives and programs.

  • Leverage your ability to influence stakeholders (internal and external) to foster a culture of safety and adherence to regulatory standards compliance

  • Apply change management skills to effectively implement new EHS initiatives and standards

  • Provide EHS support to Mattel's North America operations through risk assessments/gap analysis, planning, implementation, post implementation analysis and best practice sharing. Extend sharing of best practices across our global network

  • Ensure consistency of safety practices across sites based on one Mattel global standard

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external resources to develop training and capability-building strategies that address knowledge gaps

  • Support rollout and implementation of EHS/sustainability initiatives per Global EHS annual operating plans

  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned by your manager.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in the manufacturing, distribution centers, or consumer goods industry

  • Hands-on experience in project management

  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders (internal and external) and manage change effectively within the organization.

  • Thorough knowledge of practices and methods for developing and administering comprehensive EH&S program, including designing employee EH&S training programs

  • Proficient in performing EH&S (in particular ergonomic) assessments to identify workplace hazards and determine appropriate control measures

  • Broad knowledge of methods and practices for conducting accident and workplace safety audits and investigations

  • Extensive technical understanding of environmental health and safety principles, concepts, theories, regulations, and practices

  • Strong leadership skills, including organizing, planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, senior management, and senior outside representatives

  • Experience writing technical business policies, procedures, and reports

  • Be flexible and adaptable

  • Willingness to travel regionally in North America (approximately 25% annually depending on projects)

  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or other relevant certifications

  • Experience working in both site-level and corporate environments

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field

The annual base salary range for this position is between $133,000 to $167,000.

This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
