Tetra Tech is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist
The selected candidate will conduct/lead field work predominantly in the Southeast United States for government and private clients. Significant travel is anticipated for this positions - at least 50 percent. The ideal candidate will provide support on a variety of environmental projects, including environmental emergency responses and removal actions. This position will involve providing technical support to U.S. EPA contracts in the areas of emergency response, removal assessment, removal action oversight, and remedial investigation and will serve as a field team lead on various projects. Other projects could include support to system operation and maintenance, long-term monitoring, compliance, and due diligence efforts (Phase I and II ESAs). Work will include multi-media sampling, field audits and inspections, organizing and reviewing data, preparing reports, file reviews, contractor oversight, and related services. The successful candidate will also manage projects of varying size and complexity.
5 to 7 years' experience in environmental consulting or related experience is required. The successful candidate will have excellent client interaction skills and ability to identify and comply with multi-media environmental regulations at the federal, state, and local levels. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple activities as well as organize, coordinate and analyze technical material. The successful candidate will have significant experience managing projects, excellent writing skills that include the ability to read and assimilate technical and scientific information. Experience with environmental air monitoring equipment maintenance, asbestos sampling, and borehole installation desired.
Must be highly motivated, customer focused, and work well in a team environment. Must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload and travel as needed.
Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills. Ability to produce well written, well formatted, accurate and concise technical reports and supported by a mastery of MS Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) is strongly desired. Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and pass a motor vehicle records check.
B.S./B.A. in Environmental or Chemical Engineering; Geology, Chemistry, or other related environmental science degree and current 40-hour OSHA training is required. Asbestos certification/experience preferred.
Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs. and capable of wearing and working in an air purifying respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The position will require travel to support environmental projects throughout the southeast, sometimes on short notice, where the applicant will manage field teams and provide technical support to EPA personnel at the site.
Ability to travel is required and support to projects on a national scale is also possible.
