The Rome Mill is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support our linerboard mill. We are looking for a committed individual that has an interest and background in Environmental Engineering and Stewardship in a manufacturing environment.

This position reports to the Environmental Manager and has supervisory responsibility for supporting, developing and administering the facility Environmental processes, programs, leadership as well as assuring our compliance with Local, State and Federal requirements and Laws, and development and delivery of related training programs as they relate to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the Air Compliance Program for the Rome Mill.

  • Coordinate permitting requirements as dictated by path that develops as a result of expansion/modification projects.

  • Interact with and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies including all Georgia EPD and EPA Region 4.

  • Support the NPDES Compliance Program for the Rome Mill.

  • Support the Solid Waste/Hazardous Waste Compliance Program for the Rome Mill.

  • Participate in internal Global Manufacturing System (GMS) assessments..

  • Manage the emissions testing programs for environmental compliance.

  • Manage the continuous emissions monitor/continuous opacity monitor (CEMS/COMS) program for facility

  • Serve on community and environmental committees as required.

  • Lead cross-department teams of employees by utilizing appropriate and effective performance management systems and techniques.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification:

  • B.S. Degree in Environmental Science or Chemical engineering or related technical field.

  • Five years experience in the area of environmental compliance preferable in the pulp and paper industry and the state of Georgia.

When we say Infinite Possibilities, we mean it. The Process Control Engineer at our Rome, Georgia Linerboard Mill improves process control functions within the mill in an assigned mill area. The Process Control Engineer will cross-train in other mill areas and will work weekend/night duty as required, and take weekend call duty for process control. The Process Control Engineer reports to the Process Control Manager. Responsibilities include: Manage 3-4 distributed control systems deployed in one of four manufacturing business units – Finished Products, Pulp Mill, Power Plant or Chemical/Evaporation. Control system management responsibilities include control strategy optimization, development of process unit startup and shut down sequences, enhancement of operator interfaces, system security administration and disaster recovery preparations. * Integrate with the production and Instrument/Electrical maintenance teams in order to contribute to and/or lead efforts to troubleshoot process variability upsets, field device failures and control system hardware failures. * Provide control engineering services to capital project teams in the development and implementation of maintenance, cost reduction and regulatory projects with scopes that include new control systems and or additions to existing control systems. * Plan and implement migrations to supported versions of the control system operating software environment. Plan and initiate capital projects to upgrade obsolete distributed control system station, server, network and controller hardware. * Oversee day-to-day maintenance of process control systems within the designated area * Process optimization through development of new control strategies, and building layers of defense with existing controls and HMI's. * Leadership, including safety, workforce engagement, diversity, staff development, and labor relations. * Environmental, health and safety, including company policy, state and federal regulations. A minimum of 3 years of experience implementing and optimizing distributed control systems (DCS) in an industrial manufacturing facility is required.
