The mission of the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) is to protect and preserve South Dakota's agriculture, environment, and natural resources. The successful applicant will be a member of the Inspection, Compliance, & Remediation Program's storage tank section in DANR. The dedicated staff of professionals in the Inspection, Compliance, & Remediation Program work hard to create and sustain a vision for South Dakota that is prosperous and diverse with clean air, clean water, and healthy families. What you will do:
As part of the storage tank section, you will play an important role in implementing state and federal regulatory policies governing groundwater protection and cleanup related to storage tank facilities to protect human health and the environment. This position will perform tank inspections, release assessment and remediation, and conduct engineering evaluations of plans and specifications for aboveground and underground storage tank systems to determine if the plans and specifications are designed in accordance with industry and state standards.
Based on the applicant's knowledge, skills, abilities, and work experience, this position may be hired as Engineer I or an Engineer II position at the appropriate salary for the engineering level hired. Licenses and Certifications:
DANR values professional licensure. Preference will be given to candidates that have successfully passed the Engineer-In-Training/Fundamentals of Engineering exam or have the ability to obtain a license. We can provide training and experience that will allow you to pursue your Professional Engineering license.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Only applicants that possess a bachelor's or master's degree in environmental, geological, civil, or related engineering field will be considered. Communicating and coordinating with other engineers and scientists, other agencies, and the public is required; therefore, good communication skills are essential.
