Position Summary:

  • The Environmental Engineer is responsible for the development, administration, and implementation of environmental programs in accordance with governmental requirements. This includes air, water and waste management programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage implementation of requirements associated with a government environmental compliance program at the assigned site

  • Interface with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies on issues relating to compliance

  • Act in a leading role in the development of environmental management systems to facilitate an increase in understanding and accountability

  • Manage environmental consultant resources for project work

  • Submit reports to regulatory agencies

  • Work closely with site leaders to ensure compliance with program requirements

  • Work with site and regional environmental staff, as well as operations, maintenance, and engineering leaders at the site, to ensure environmental requirements are integrated with plant level standard work

  • Review and analyze environmental documentation issued by regulatory agencies; determines impact on operations, and publish compliance strategies and requirements

  • Evaluate proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public, and environmental impact

  • Interact with regulators to resolve compliance issues; establish permit requirements and assists in regulatory audits

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering, chemistry, or equivalent field
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental/environmental regulations

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Environmental Management Systems - RC14001

  • Experience working with governmental regulatory agencies

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing environment

  • Must have an uncompromising drive for compliance and willingness to escalate issues as needed

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and teamwork skills

  • Ability to interface with and influence all levels of plant personnel

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Strong auditing abilities

  • Must be highly motivated, energetic, and a self-directed individual with good analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with manage multiple priorities

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
