This position is assigned to provide engineering and other support for a 20 county area in Northwest Wisconsin. Engineering services will be delivered to landowners who voluntarily participate in Federal conservation programs and will include survey, design, installation, and approval of practices related to soil and water conservation and manure management.

This position must coordinate work with NRCS staff. This position also provides technical and other assistance to support state and local conservation programs.

Special Notes:

Considerable travel is required; a valid drivers license or the ability to provide ones own transportation for work purposes is also required.

Upon appointment, the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain DATCP Conservation Engineering Practitioner Certification (ATCP 50.46) and any required NRCS job approval authority.

A criminal background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DATCP sponsorship) at the time of application.

Work is performed in various locations including: an office environment, construction sites, farming operations, and other outdoor settings which may include being subject to the elements year-round as well as traversing uneven terrain.

Qualifications:

It is critical that you clearly identify and describe your training and experience on your resume and letter of experience in the following areas:

Minimum Qualifications (Required - Candidates must have experience and/or education relevant to these areas in order to be considered for the position):
1.) Experience in completing site investigations/data gathering to identify resource concerns and plan projects
2.) Experience designing engineered practices and inspecting construction projects
3.) Experience providing engineering technical assistance and/or training to clients, landowners, or coworkers

A well qualified candidate will also have experience and/or training in the following areas:
1). Possession of NRCS Engineering Job Approval and/or DATCP Conservation Engineering Practitioners Certification
2). Experience with design and installation of conservation or environmental practices
3). Experience working with USDA NRCS, DNR, or other technical standards for conservation or environmental practices
4.) Experience using AutoCAD and/or GIS
