Environmental Conservation Corps: Crew Member
The Sustainability Institute's ECC is recruiting a young adult (17-24 years old) to serve as a Crew Member for a term of service of 900 hours; ~6 months. The ECC is an AmeriCorps Opportunity Youth Service Initiative-affiliated program, geared toward empowering & transforming the lives of AmeriCorps Members, including economically disadvantaged young adults, through its tested workforce readiness & service-learning framework.
We focus on critically important land conservation activities & projects to combat & mitigate climate change & other anthropogenic impacts on our national forests, national wildlife refuges, regional parks, urban neighborhoods, & waterways. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.
Member Duties : The Environmental Conservation Corps focuses on critically important habitat stewardship activities & projects to combat & mitigate climate change & other anthropogenic impacts on our national forests, national wildlife refuges, regional parks, urban neighborhoods, & waterways. We specifically focus on 5 conservation activities: (1) Salt marsh restoration, including cultivating and planting Spartina and restoring oyster reefs and constructing living shorelines; (2) Building rain gardens; (3) Water quality monitoring, testing and data collection (salt and fresh water); (4) Planting native trees and plants; (5) Constructing, maintaining and repairing trails, bridges and boardwalks.
