DEP's Bureau of Air Quality has an immediate need for an Environmental Chemist. The employee is solely responsible for overseeing the quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) procedures for ambient PM2.5 air monitoring data and assists with lead and air toxics monitoring data. In addition, the employee in this position performs a variety of duties in the statewide air quality program with responsibility to ensure the Commonwealth's rules, regulations, and policies governing the ambient air monitoring program are uniformly implemented throughout the state and the program's technical requirements are met.

  • Full-time employment.

  • Monday through Friday: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with one hour lunch period.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • Two years of experience as an Environmental Chemist 1; OR eight years of professional chemical analytical experience which included analyzing a wide variety of chemicals and interpreting the analysis; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Apply today! This position will assist with the District Storm Water Management Committee. Assist in permit reviews for Design project delivery activities. Assist in coordinating activities related to District mitigation/permitting commitments and associated monitoring during post-construction. Monitor and assist with the District's MS4 compliance requirements. As an Environmental Planner 2, you will serve as primary MS4 field inspector. This shall include, but not be limited to, inventory, inspection, audits, training and liaison related activities for E&S compliance via the District Self Inspection along with Post Construction Storm water Management inspection and tracking via Publication 888. Assist in the implementation and tracking of District policy regarding the design, maintenance and construction of storm water control measures (SCM's). This shall include inventorying, inspecting, and maintaining District owned SCM's. Assist with the District's operations to secure required permitting for construction operations, including waterway and NPDES permits. Assist Permit Coordinator reviewing Design project delivery activities. Review drawings to assure they are consistent with permit applications. Assist with constructibility review of permit conditions and storm water control measures (SCM) proposed in permit applications. Assist in monitoring the District's compliance associated with all environmental mitigation commitments, including MS4 related activities.
