Job Summary Under supervision, maintains prescribed standards of cleanliness for assigned areas, using germicidal solutions and following prescribed procedures and posted work schedules. Minimum Qualifications Education/Training High School diploma preferred # Experience 1 year of experience preferred Experience in medical, hospital or institutional experience preferred. # License/Certification/Registration N/A # Knowledge, Skills # Abilities Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Ability to operate various power and manual equipment (such as floor machines etc.) Primary Duties and Responsibilities Technical/Environmental Duties: Cleans all assigned areas in accordance with standards of cleanliness and highest quality of cleaning excellence. Consistently gathers all trash Polishes assigned floor surface areas by operating electric washing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and polishing equipment, making manual adjustments to attain optimal results. Performs other duties as required, such as cleaning light fixtures, wall vents, and moving furniture. Maintains cleaning equipment. Deposits refuse in specified collection areas and/or incinerator. Makes timely rounds and always follows universal precautions. Performs high dusting and low dusting of assigned areas. Uses 7 step cleaning process for all patient areas. This includes vacuuming, washing, sweeping, mopping of restrooms, beds, furniture and open areas. Cleans specialized areas such as isolation and surgical areas to highest standards according to sterilization procedures. Observes safety and infection control precautions in cleaning of assigned areas. Performs discharge cleaning for all patient discharges, following department procedure and policies. Customer Service: Provides services to patients and families as needed. Introduces self to patients and families Checks in with patients before leaving room Answers and responds to patient requests. Greets patients and families arriving on the unit. Approach, greet and offer assistance and direction to patients, family members, physicians and others who may need help in finding their way. Development: Participates with supervisors in identifying learning needs. When learning needs are identified, participates in training and development activities. Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. Meets all mandatory obligations. Organizational knowledge: Works effectively within and between departments. Participates in departmental projects Participates in interdepartmental activities when asked. Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff, supervisors, and managers both inside and outside the unit.#

Essential Position Functions * Follows work order procedure and sees that confirmation of receipt and timing is made to each resident. * Assures that Environmental Services allowance for residents are consistently followed. Residents are properly charged when appropriate. * Insures efficient use of company supplies, materials, tools and resources. * Shows an ability to relate to and perform job functions for the elderly in a positive and efficient manner. * Maintains the community interior and exterior in good condition and appearance. * Remains on call, when assigned, for 24 hours a day. * Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri-chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers, changes filters on HVAC equipment, carries, lifts and stocks supplies. * Concerns his/herself with the safety of all residents in order to minimize the potential for fire and accidents. Also, ensures that the location adheres to the legal, safety, health, fire and sanitation codes by being familiar with his/her role in carrying out the site's fire, safety and disaster plans and by being familiar with current Safety Data Sheets (SDS). * Puts Customer Service first; ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights. * Adheres to all OSHA regulations and safety procedures when lifting, using equipment and using chemicals. * Performs all other duties as requested. Education/Experience: * Must have demonstrated experience in Environmental Services and be sensitive to needs of elders and disabled individuals. * High school degree or equivalent and basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing and carpentry are preferred.
