Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Analyst (Jr. Level) to work in our Sterling, VA office.

The selected candidate will support environmental projects under contract with the Federal Government. The position supports multiple projects teams in performing a wide range of support activities, including conducting research of environmental programs and technical issues and preparing written products for target audiences (e.g., fact sheets, reports, presentations, content for listserv messages, web pages, and social media such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Other responsibilities may include meeting and conference support requiring domestic or international travel; interpreting and recording data; conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies, and presenting results; support updating and maintaining databases and tracking tools; responding to requests for information; and other support to meet project needs.

No prior experience required although experience working in a team environment in an office setting through employment or internships is desirable. Clear and effective communications skills; candidates may be asked to provide writing samples.

  • Attention to detail is required.

  • Must be able to manage time well and work on multiple concurrent tasks.

  • Candidate should be self-motivated and able to take directions.

  • Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and a positive attitude a must.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software.

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

BS/BA degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Policy (or related field) is required. Candidate must be able to sit at a desk/computer and function in an office environment doing office-based tasks. Job may involve lifting and packing/unpacking boxes when supporting meetings/conferences. Some domestic and international travel anticipated for 2- 5 trips annually and typically 1-3 days maximum per trip. Must have reliable means of transportation to commute to our Sterling, VA office.

VIEW JOBS 12/8/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-08T00:00 Scope: The Environmental Technician will work with the following equipment: resin columns, regeneration system, filter press, clarifier, sand filter, pH meters, equalization systems, pumps, mixers, bag filters, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, and other waste treatment equipment. An Environmental Technician has the responsibility of operating the waste treatment system under routine and non-routine conditions. Will be exposed to hazardous waste while performing daily job duties. Technicians will undergo Chemical Handling training prior to the start of performing these duties and will actively participate in ongoing hazardous waste and chemical handling training. Duties and Responsibilities: * Ability to drive a forklift, or be certified within 90 days * Maintain Process equipment by replacement of Cu Balls/Anodes * Empty the filter press and transfer cake to sludge boxes * Complete metal precipitation / treatment by batch treatment * Manage Hazardous Waste according to RCRA regulations * Monitor wastewater effluent by sampling and analysis * Keep accurate records of all process equipment, analysis and logs * Keep electroless copper day tanks full and ready at all times * Utilize handheld monitoring equipment, (pH probes, TDS probes, metal analyzers, etc.) * Acid clean the filter press and replace filter press cloths as needed * Acid clean and backwash the wastewater system * Operate all environmental and wastewater equipment without supervision within 90 days * Manage scrap metals and monitor there recycling * Will provide on the job training to new operators to the EH&S Department * Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workplace * Follow all safety measures when handling chemicals and hazardous waste with regard to use, mixing and disposing chemicals Essential Knowledge and Skills: * Ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job * Able to lift 50+ pounds * Able to work with process chemicals Education and Experience: * High School Diploma or equivalent required with Associates Degree in Chemistry preferred * Minimum one year experience working in an environmental / safety role in a 24/7 manufacturing environment * Some mechanical aptitude Export Statement: Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation.
