The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) are seeking an organized and diplomatic Environmental Analyst Geologist to provide overall program implementation on Long Island, update Source Water Assessment and Protection Plans (SWAPPs), and provide technical assistance to communities preparing SWAPPs.
Candidate will review and prioritize existing SWAPPs for Nassau and Suffolk Counties and coordinate with NYSDEC and other state and local agencies to collect relevant information.
Will identify potential contamination threats from geothermal systems, Hazardous Waste Remediation sites, inactive landfills, petroleum spill sites, threats from industrial and commercial facilities, solid waste facilities, and areas with 1,4-dioxane and PFAS contamination.
