Major Duties

Position Summary:

Ensure Division facilities comply with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. Eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and/or property/product damage.

Has regular contact with employees at all levels of the operation, including plant and Division management.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluate operations and initiate programs to insure compliance with applicable EHS policies, regulations, principles, and practices.

  • Assist in the identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of engineering knowledge, skill, and abilities.

  • Review proposed occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted engineering principles and practices and recommend technical changes as needed.

  • Coordinate and audit plant incident investigation process. Lead audit teams to identify pre-injury trends, determine compliance with established safety/health procedures and recommend appropriate actions. Perform follow up on corrective actions.

  • Measure progress toward the attainment of plant safety goals using injury exposure as well as injuries/incidents as parameters.

  • Plan, develop, revise/update, and deliver training programs to employees at multiple facilities and at all levels of the Division.

  • Facilitate meetings including, safety team meetings, problem solving teams/meetings, and EHS planning meetings. Facilitate and manage plant safety committee activities.

  • Keep accurate and timely records and deliver reports, such as OSHA, RCRA, SARA, and EPA reports, per scheduled deadlines.

  • Supervise plant compliance with established written programs.

  • Participates and supports plant 5S + Safety program

4 year college degree required
2-5 Years of experience in manufacturing plant level EHS coordination.

Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.

Team Building/Relationship building skills develops relationships with key people in other functions and at other levels.

Responsibilities and Qualifications The coder is responsible for reviewing and analyzing documentation present in the medical record for inpatient, outpatient and/or professional services to assign diagnoses/procedure codes as described by the physician(s) of record. Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines. Completes inpatient, observation, outpatient surgery, emergency department, recurring, ancillary and/or professional coding and abstracting functions as assigned. Demonstrates the ability to achieve accuracy and consistency in the selection of diagnoses and/or procedures. Identifies complications/co-morbid conditions. Verifies point of origin code, discharge status codes, and other registration/demographic data as appropriate.Consistently meets or exceeds coding productivity standards per Central Coding Management Department productivity policy.Consistently meets or exceeds quality requirements per Central Coding Management Department policy.Outstanding 98-100% accuracyVery Effective 96-97% accuracyEffective 95% accuracyNeeds Improvement less than 95%Ensures compliance with CMS and other regulatory compliance guidelines, Joint Commission compliance and Mercy guidelines.Queries physicians for clarification of documentation in a non-leading manner, as directed by coding guidelines and Central Coding Management Department Policy.Participates in all continuing education opportunities set forth by the Central Coding management Department and maintains applicable continuing education hours to maintain certification(s).Promotes and contributes to the collaboration between the local HIM department and the Central Coding Management Department in a positive manner.Performs other work duties as assigned.
