POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs daily cleaning tasks for patient and resident rooms, nursing station, lounges, educational facilities, restrooms, office, clinic areas and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services and in accordance with facility standards and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • After initial training, demonstrate ability to utilize supplies, tools and equipment properly

  • Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

Physical Ability:

This employee will have heavy physical stress on the back. Includes police officers, truck drivers, sanitation, warehouse, personnel, construction, nurses, etc. Involves frequent heavy lifting - more than 50 pounds - often combined with bending or turning. Employees in this category should be capable of heavy sustained labor.
1.Perform all environmental services-related tasks demonstrating professionalism and a service orientation to fellow employees, client staff and customers

  • Interact with fellow workers in a way that promotes cooperative relationships with patients, staff and others by anticipating needs, being respectful, caring and courteous

  • Maintain communication status and receive job assignments (via telephone/pager system) utilizing the interactive "Bed Tracking System"
    2.Perform basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods

  • Dusts horizontal surfaces

  • Empties wastebaskets, removes waste, relines basket

  • Damp wipe cleans all furniture

  • Cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms

  • Mops and sanitizes floors of rooms and offices

  • Spot cleans walls and windows

  • Polishes metal surfaces

  • Replenishes room supplies

  • Maintains and replenishes supply carts and utility closets in an orderly manner

  • Performs "check-out" cleaning as assigned

  • Vacuums carpets; spot cleans as needed

  • Sorts and distributes linen as assigned

  • Transports soiled linen to central collection point
    3.Perform heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods:

  • Dust and wet mop floors

  • Scrub or buff floors with appropriate equipment

  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets for cleaning and bacteria control with industrial vacuum

  • Strip and refinish hard surface floors

  • Transport waste from utility rooms and other collection points and dispose of waste by sterilization and/or placement in holding area

  • Cycle clean induction units, light fixtures and windows

  • Cycle clean ceilings and walls

  • Measure and mix cleaning chemicals
    4.Adheres to administrative and departmental house rules, policies, procedures and objectives:

  • Reports to work on time and meets departmental attendance standards

  • Reports to work well groomed and in compliance with dress code. Wears ID badge, with name in plain view, while on duty

  • Respects the dignity of all by maintaining their privacy and respecting confidentiality actively practices principles learned including, but not limited to the following topics: universal precautions, patient rights, fire safety, disaster preparedness, general safety, hazard communication, performance improvement, workplace rules and training requirements
    5.Other duties as deemed necessary by management.
