The Paint Line Entry End Operator is responsible for loading raw metal coils on to the mandrel of the paint line and for verification of the correct metal strip dimensions (thickness and width) prior to loading the coil(s). Also, the Paint Line Entry End Operator is responsible for safely stitching the ends of each coil together in the paint line. The Paint Line Entry End Operator inspects the metal surface of every raw coil that is charged into the paint line.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for loading raw metal coils on to the entry mandrel of the paint line.
Responsible for verifying the correct dimensions (strip thickness and strip width) of each coil that is loaded on the paint line for processing. Responsible for recording the correct coil numbers and dimensions on to production and/or quality report documents.
Responsible for correctly entering coil information into the information system (computer).
Responsible for safely stitching coil ends together so that they can be processed across the paint line.
Responsible for inspection of the strip surface through the entire entry section of the paint line (including accumulators) and identifying defective product. This includes determining whether a condition is evolving from the incoming material or is being created by the paint line equipment (i.e. dents).
Responsible for quarantining defective product (using the HFI process), obtaining representative samples of defective product and notifying Quality Control when non-conforming conditions exist.
Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at Metal Coaters of Texas
Communicates daily with internal personnel from Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control in order to help resolve any problems and help achieve company goals.
Responsible for assisting in the unwrapping of material for processing.
Responsible for assisting in restacking and staging coil areas.
Responsible for removing all trash and scrap metal to the proper containers.
Responsible for keeping work area in a clean an orderly condition.
Responsible for performing various other duties as required or as assigned.
