The applicant must be reliable and be able to follow instruction. Applicant must also be able to participate in snow removal during the winter months. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Working Conditions: 4 hours per day, 5 days per week, full-year position. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and over 50 lbs. occasionally. Must have fine motor skills and meet other physical requirements (including but not limited to: bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling.) Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Full Job Description: Position: Custodian Work Period: 12-month position, non-exempt Work Schedule: Must work standard schedule and overtime as needed Reports To: Director of Facilities and Lead Custodian Supervises: N/A Position Goal: Under immediate supervision, keeps premises of school building and grounds in a clean and orderly condition in support of the education, extra and co-curricular programs of the school district. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Custodial experience preferred. Able to understand and apply information contained in material safety data sheets when dealing with hazardous materials. Applicants will be subjected to a criminal background check as required by law. (RSA 189:13-a) Pre-Employment Medical Examination signed by Licensed Physician indicating that the employee is medically capable of performing designated assignment. (RSA 200:36 and 275:3) Licensure and Certification Requirements: None Evaluation: Performance of position responsibilities will be evaluated annually in accordance with the approved administrative procedure for staff evaluation. Other Considerations and Requirements: * Good interpersonal and oral communication skills. * Demonstrates aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance. * Recognizes the need to place the welfare and safety of the students and staff served at a high priority in the conduct of the job. * Such alternatives to these qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. 1. Essential Duties: Perform custodial duties as outlined in the Pelham School District Facility Maintenance Plan including, but not limited to: * Maintain appearance and cleanliness of floors, carpets and common areas in each assigned building, may include washing, stripping, waxing, vacuuming, shampooing, mopping, polishing, and/or scrubbing; * Maintain clean and sanitary conditions, and supplies in restrooms and kitchen areas in each assigned building; * Wash and scrub walls, ceilings, lavatory fixtures, windows, drinking fountains, drains, lights, light fixtures, and painted surfaces; * Remove spots, gum and graffiti from floors, walls, woodwork, furniture, carpets, and fixtures; * Clean, dust, and polish woodwork, furniture, glass, and other items; * Clean interior and exterior doors and windows; * Empty and clean wastepaper baskets and other refuse containers; * Clean whiteboards, chalkboards, trays, and erasers; * Perform repairs of a minor or routine nature in and around each assigned building; * Remove snow and treat sidewalks and building entrances and other grounds cleaning as required; * Operate power sweepers, polishers, scrubbers, vacuums, snow blowers, and other equipment; * Move and adjust chairs, desks, tables, supplies, furniture and equipment; * Set and reset classrooms and common areas before and after activities, as required. * Move, assemble, or disassemble tables, chairs, equipment or other items; * Receive deliveries and distribute to appropriate areas; * Monitor performance of equipment and components and alert the Lead Custodian to problems and suggest improvements; * Maintain security, and monitor and limit access to building in accordance with established policies and procedures; * Familiar with, and executes, safe work procedures associated with assigned work; * Available for emergencies, or additional work and/or overtime, as required; * Refer children to the school administration when disciplinary action may be required; * Maintain effective relations with building staff, students, contractors, and the public; * Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Lead Custodian or Director of Facilities. 2.
