Job Description BAE Systems is offering an exciting opportunity to support an important and dynamic Department of Justice customer as a Junior Software Engineer/Developer supporting a highly capable and diverse team driving technical innovation. This is a rare career opportunity to work on exciting projects while obtaining your security clearance. The successful candidate should, with limited supervision, be able to develop and code software solutions that provide needed capabilities in support of customer mission related activities. The Software Engineer will design, implement, and maintain Windows and/or Linux applications or systems based on customer-driven requirements for the purpose of collecting, processing, and or/or dissemination of lawfully collected data.
The Software Engineer will:
Contribute to system-level design and partitioning in order to optimize overall system performance and reliability;
Translate detailed design into computer software;
Test, debug, and refine computer software to produce the required product;
Prepare both program-level and user-level documentation;
Enhance software to reduce operating times or improve efficiency; and
Provide full life cycle support for software including user interaction.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills *The candidate must be willing to obtain a TS Security clearance and willing to undergo a Counter Intelligence Polygraph after onboarding. This is a rare career opportunity to work on exciting projects while obtaining your security clearance.
Minimum Education and Overall Experience:
Minimum Education: Bachelors of Science (B.S.) Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Information Systems
The Junior-Level (Entry) Software Engineer will have two (2) or more years of technical experience as a developer on host applications and/or embedded processing systems;
The Software Engineer will have experience in deriving design specifications for functional activities;
Experience in Windows and/or Linux applications and driver development;
Ability to develop, troubleshoot, and test complex software to satisfy design objectives;
Experience in networking protocols such as TCP/IP and network-based communication protocols, including reverse-engineering of applications; and
Experience in the use of programming languages such as C, C++, C#, and .NET Framework.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Strong desire to learn and contribute to an important mission focused customer
Experience working on digital forensics technology or related technologies for law enforcement or intelligence community customers is a plus
Working knowledge and experience in participating in Agile software practices and team design session; and
Demonstrated problem solving abilities with the ability to explore and evaluate many possible solutions to problems.
