CITY OF GREENVILLE NOTICE

POLICE OFFICER EXAMINATION & PHYSICAL ABILITY TEST

The Firemen's and Policemen's Civil Service Commission of Greenville, Texas announces the examination for ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER positions with the Greenville Police Department. The test will be given Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, 5501 Business Highway 69 S., Greenville, TX 75402.

Physical Ability Test will be conducted that afternoon, August 3, 2024, if you pass the Police Entry Exam and Personal History Packet Review.  Please be prepared to take the PAT if you clear the other processes.  

Interested applicants must apply prior to the application cutoff date on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 5:00 P.M.  Applications post marked after the cutoff date will not be considered.

To apply, you must submit a City of Greenville/GEUS application form. Resumes only may be submitted as an addendum to the official application form.

After submitting a City of Greenville/GEUS application form.   You will need to complete a Personal History Statement and bring it with you to the entrance exam testing site on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

  A copy of the Personal History Statement can be found at http://www.ci.greenville.tx.us/DocumentCenter/View/15488/Personal-History-Statement-Changes-06042019. An accurate and completed Personal History Statement is mandatory in order to complete testing.  It must be received in person.  Do not submit this document electronically.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and no older than 55 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, no prior felony convictions, and vision must be a minimum of binocular 20/200 corrected to 20/20.  Five points veteran’s preference will be added to your passing test score if you have an honorable discharge with at least 180 days service in the Active Military.

 National Guard or Reserve duty alone will not qualify.  A copy of your DD Form 214 must be attached to your application and turned in prior to the test to receive credit.  Minimum education standards include either a high school diploma or a high school equivalency certificate (GED).

The eligibility list established by this examination shall be valid for a period of one year from date of examination unless first exhausted.   Officers with current TCOLE Certification will be considered first on the eligibility list.

Starting Salary:    $5,616 per month.   Previously TCOLE Certified Officers may be considered for the City’s Lateral Entry program with starting pay of up to $7,548 per month with ten years’ service.

 Applicants with active TCOLE law enforcement license and certification will be given preference on the eligibility list.  The City of Greenville is an Equal Opportunity Employer.  $10,000 Sign On Bonus for Certified Officers to be paid in two parts; $5,000 Sign On Bonus for Non-Certified Officers to be paid in two parts.
