Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Flammability Centre of Excellence organization is seeking FlammabilityMaterials Processes and Physics Engineers (Entry-Level) to join the team based in Everett, Washington.

The ideal candidate will support Payloads Core Flammability Center of Excellence as MP&P Engineer in conducting compliance showing, finding, and certification activities for Boeing products.

In this role, you will have the responsibility in defining engineering requirements to develop, select, or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technology, machines, devices, tools and automation used in the manufacture of products. Develops and maintains specifications and other documents that manage and regulate the deployment of materials, parts and processes. Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Promotes standardization across business activities.

Evaluates emerging automation, robotics, additive manufacturing and other technologies for potential application to business needs. Develops, qualifies and certifies new materials, parts, and processes to meet requirements. Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate. Applies knowledge of Boeing parts, materials, and processes to assess, resolve and optimize product and process issues throughout the Boeing product lifecycle.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collects information to support definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture and engineering design of products.

  • Incorporates changes to specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes.

  • Performs tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.

  • Assists with activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.

  • Conducts basic analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.

  • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions.

  • Develops basic computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.

  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.

  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Everett, WA)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of materials process engineering for aerospace applications.

  • Knowledge of adhesive materials (such as epoxy, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, etc) and processes.

  • Knowledge of flammability requirements and test methods for determining compliance to regulations.

  • Apply knowledge of composite and elastomer materials engineering and scientific principles to develop, design, analyze, test, and validate solutions for complex systems and sub-systems.

  • Knowledge of and interaction with relevant domestic and international government agencies and industrial organizations. Interpreting and influencing the requirements such as flammability, export control, FAR's as well as current issues impacting functional responsibilities of composite, Interior, and elastomers activities.

Typical Education/Experience:

Entry-Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range Entry-Level: $68,850 - $93,150
