Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Scientist for employment in the Baton Rouge, LA office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform various field tasks, such as contractor oversight, field screening, and sample collection.

  • Communicate and interact effectively and successfully with fellow AECOM employees and contractors.

  • Record data neatly, accurately, and legibly.

  • Work outdoors at project sites for a significant portion of the year.

  • Minimum Requirements

  • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.

  • Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Entry-level position; may not require previous experience.

  • Degree in science or related field required.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental science or other related discipline (e.g., geophysics, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental geology, engineering geology, environmental engineering).

  • General knowledge of basic geologic principles and the environmental sciences.

  • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.

  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification

  • Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable

  • Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.

  • Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner. Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.

  • Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions and be medically fit for wearing a respirator.

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to conform to AECOM Travel Policies, including ability to obtain and hold the AECOM corporate credit card for use in making travel-related purchases.

  • Ability to travel, including extended travel, when necessary.
