Position Summary

  • Works under the close direction of other Electrical and Controls department members

  • Performs drafting of all types of Electrical, Controls, and Process drawings

  • Provides project assistance on printing/plotting and issue package assembly

  • Assists in resolving routine layout and drawing development

  • Monitors and becomes familiar with drawings in progress

  • Begins to become familiar with materials and material specification

  • Responsible for reporting on current task status to the team leader and providing weekly or bi-weekly reports of progress

  • Understand quality expectations for the technical content of all assigned design tasks; work to produce drawings and designs within the assigned timeframes; raise any gaps or potential problems for resolution immediately upon identification

  • Continues development of their technical knowledge, skills and potential

  • High School or equivalent graduate, or an associate degree in related discipline

  • Functional skills with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

  • PDMS or SmartPlant training is a plus

  • Entry level with no prior experience required

  • Functional Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility in a hot climate

Position Summary * Works under the direction of other Electrical and Controls department members * Begin to develop an understanding of the project scope in order to participate in the development of the design effort * Responsible for reporting on current task status to the project lead and providing weekly or bi-weekly reports of progress * Ensure that the technical content of all assigned design deliverables meet quality expectations; ensure drawings and designs are produced within the assigned timeframes; raise any gaps or potential problems for resolution immediately upon identification * Monitor assigned design activities to assure conformance with company work instructions and SOPs; ensure adherence to client and/or company specifications, governing codes and good design practice * Coordinate and cooperate with the other disciplines as directed to ensure the smooth flow of all design information on the project task force, and to ensure alignment with project requirements * Performs drafting of all types of Electrical, Controls and Process drawings * Trains and assists in the use of 3D model review programs * Trains and assists on drawing layout and development * Monitors and becomes familiar with drawings in progress * A good working understanding of materials and material specification * Continues development of their technical knowledge, skills and potential * Associates degree in Related discipline or 2 years related experience without a degree * Experience in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, and/or polymer plant design a plus * Familiarity with EPC work processes, administrative practices as well as familiarity with the various project phases and the scope/deliverables required for each * Familiarity in DCS/PLC/SIS system wiring practices, installations practices, location plan development * Functional skills with ACAD and/or MicroStation * Begin familiarization with NEC and industry standards * Database Instrumentation tool experience (SPI/INtools) preferred. * PDMS or SmartPlant® 3D experience preferred * Functional Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Other Essential Functions & Requirements: * Good oral and written communication * Growing safety awareness * Able to perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility in a hot climate Jacobs Engineering Elkview WV
