Entry Base Ops:

The Base Area Attendant is responsible for the daily up keep of the resort's outdoor plazas and facilities at the base of the mountain. If you have an eye for detail and a strong work ethic, we would love for you to apply to our team.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Trash removal and cleaning of trash cans.

  • Sweeping of plazas.

  • Installing of fences.

  • Landscaping including mowing.

  • The Base Area Attendant is also responsible for assisting other departments when needed.

  • The Base Area Attendant needs to exhibit strong internal and external guest service skills, while maintaining a clean and safe environment for our guests.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED - required.

  • Valid Driver's License - required.

  • Read, Write, and Speak English fluently - required.

  • Ability to lift 75 lbs and perform physical labor - required.

  • Ability to work outside in a high alpine environment - required.

  • Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle - preferred.

  • Previous outdoor environment experience - preferred.

  • Self-motivated preferred.

  • Strong work ethic preferred.

  • Fluent Spanish preferred.

Are you interested in moving to the Rocky Mountains to live the skiing lifestyle?  Do you enjoy working at night and want to ski/ride during the day?  Like operating heavy equipment or want to learn how?  Want to drive the ski industry's most cutting edge machines?  Vail Mountain is currently hiring snow cat operators to be a part of our 5-Star Grooming and Slope Maintenance operation!  We are looking for strong candidates who like to ski and want to live the ski resort lifestyle to join our hardworking team.  We have positions available for people with little or no heavy equipment experience to those with years of operating prowess!  Multiple schedules available including daytime hauling, night, and overnight shifts, working 4 days a week.  This position includes possibility for overtime and possible work for next summer as well.  Apply NOW for the 2019 – 2020 winter season and take your first steps towards a new career. Job Duties: * Responsible for your own safety and the safety of your fellow employees and guests. * Responsible for the safety of the resort’s vehicles, equipment, infrastructure, and tools. * Maintain and groom mountain skiing surfaces to finest level possible. * Ability to learn how to operate all Vail Resorts Slope Grooming equipment and basic mountain operations. * Minimize machinery down time through basic preventative maintenance, cleanliness and up-keep of machine. * Manual labor in other Grooming and Slope Maintenance work. * Maintain good working relationship and open communication with co-workers. * Receive daily working instructions and training from Advanced Operators, Specialists, Foremen and Managers. * Communication with Fleet Maintenance mechanics including writing repair orders (RO’s) and conversing about more specific mechanical problems.  * Hauling equipment, product, and/or employees with specialized snow cat equipment as required.  * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Valid US driver's license with no restrictions - required * Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record check. - required * Must be at least 18 years of age. - required * High school diploma or equivalent. - required * Able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly. - required * Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently. - required * Able to climb on and off vehicles/heavy equipment frequently. - required * Able to sit for extended periods of time (10 hrs.) while operating a snow cat. – required * Able to work the assigned shift (Night: 3pm – 1am; Morning: 12am – 10am; Daytime Haul: 7am – 7pm). – required * Able to use two-way radios (both speaking and hearing instructions). – required * Season long commitment (November 2019 – April 2020). – required Be a part of the resort where it all started.
