Enterprise NERC Compliance Specialist Senior- Enterprise NERC Compliance Specialist Principal
This position is within the AEP Enterprise NERC Reliability Assurance Oversight team that provides reasonable assurance that AEP is fulfilling its obligations contained in the NERC and regional reliability standards by providing independent oversight and promoting effective reliability and security risk management. Focus areas within this team are compliance assurance and risk oversight, regulatory interpretations, compliance assurance reporting, and program management. This role is expected to stay current on the changing standards and rules.
Conducts NERC Standards interpretations in support of an AEP enterprise approach to NERC compliance and modify and maintain the process for doing the same as needed;
Evaluate organizations' compliance with regulatory rules and standards for technical areas that include but are not limited to operations, planning, Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), reliability and safety through in-depth reviews of business unit processes, procedures, and related controls;
Performs independent oversight self-monitoring activities to assess AEP's compliance and risk to NERC Standards. Includes collection and analysis of cross-business unit information related to the reliability compliance program, recommendations for improvements, assessment report development, and communication of results to management/leaders with recommendations;
Performs independent oversight to ensure adequacy of internal controls and associated evidence through internal controls evaluation and testing activities that support reduction in AEP's reliability risk. Includes internal controls validation and monitoring, recommendations for improvements, report development, and communication of results to management/leaders with recommendations;
Performs cross-business unit coordination for self-monitoring and controls testing and evaluation activities;
Supports periodic assessments of reliability and compliance risks and AEP's associated internal controls that are in place to mitigate those risks;
Establishes and maintains relationships with enterprise compliance/reliability peers;
Perform quality reviews for various program deliverables; and
Contributes to continuous improvement activities in support of the AEP reliability assurance program;
Demonstrates business acumen through the delivery of compliance related information across all levels of the organization and collaboration with non-compliance related peers across the company;
Assists in training and communications related to NERC compliance activities; and
Performs project planning and execution.

Excellent written and communication skills, with ability to write reports, presentations, and processes that involve complex and technical information
Technical skills, ability to work with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), databases, survey applications.
Understanding of NERC Reliability Standards and NERC compliance processes
Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines and maintaining accuracy and quality
