Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.The Surgical Services Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care to those patients undergoing surgical procedures in the areas of ENT and Plastic surgery. � Inpatient care in this department focuses on pre-op needs, post-op care and treatment after phase I recovery through discharge from an inpatient nursing division. The department's surgical observation unit provides more intensive care and treatment to those post-op or post-traumatic patients whose condition requires treatment at this level.Preferred QualificationsRole PurposeProvides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.ResponsibilitiesAssists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
