The Enterprise Systems Engineer, full-time and exempt from union representation and reports directly to the Director of Information Technology. The Enterprise Systems Engineer (ESE) is responsible for effective provisioning, configuration, operation, optimization, and maintenance of virtual systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure for the college's virtual environment. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that all college virtual hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to industry best practices, RTC values and goals, and regulatory requirements, enabling staff, faculty, and students.
The pay range for this exempt position is $100,000 to $106,000 annually, and subject to receive the 5.8 COLA increase in July 2024.The priority consideration date is May 10th but will remain open until filled.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include
Systems Engineering/Provisioning
Engineering of ESE-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
Provisionnew / rebuild existing virtual servers and configure hardware (virtual), peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Install and configure systems to support RTC infrastructure applications.
Provision and maintain all Azure based Windows and storage, such as Operating System, device drivers, and firmware.
Responsible for Identity and Access Management, including SSO, and ADFS.
Management of Microsoft Key Management Servers.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
Operations and Support
Lead by example as a team player, providing input, guidance, and assistance whenever possible to enhance the departments' collective ability to manage its goals and service delivery objectives.
Exercise discretion, sensitivity, and appropriate confidentiality with respect to IT domain administration and policy enforcement; including security incident response, and the identification of existing or potential security gaps.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and coordinate and communicate with impacted areas.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Perform/Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly backup operations for college virtual environment(s), ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media in the cloud.
Set up, change, and delete Users and Groups as required to control access to system resources. Set up file permissions as required, controlling access to specific files and directories.
Provide Tier III/other support requests from various constituencies. Investigate, analyze, and troubleshoot issues to resolution.
Supports the division in controlling expenses; provides input for budgeting infrastructure needs.
Responds to all requests according to departmental standards.
Maintenance
Communicate planned maintenance activities within College Technology Services in advance: include relevant details, rollback options, anticipated results, and potential end-user impacts.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. Test changes comprehensively so that revisits are minimal; reviews all work for accuracy before submission.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Upgrade and configure system software that supports RTC infrastructure applications and other Management applications per project or operational needs.
Advises Manager of potential problems, requirements for expanded services, and status of current systems on an ongoing basis.
Provide management with performance and measurement statistics for planning and reporting purposes.
Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
Professional Development

Two (2) years of college in a relevant course track or completion of an accredited technical training program and three (3) years in a Systems Administrator or similar position.

Demonstrated ability to promote universal design and accessibility. Proficiency in (or ability to learn within 6 months of hire) the production of accessible content, whether print or electronic.Ability to provide technical advice, assistance, and instruction to technical and non-technical constituents.Ability to act as a liaison between user and vendor customer service.Ability to physically install and/or relocate network equipment, hardware, and computers.Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically experience creating diagrams, documentation, policies, and procedures.Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience organizing and maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and planning and organizing work to meet changing priorities and deadlines. Ability to exercise good judgment, making sound decisions while providing solutions to complex problems with minimal supervision.Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. along with prolonged standing, bending, sitting, ladder work, working around and under furniture and equipment, working in small areas above and below the floor and within walls required. Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion, and courtesy.Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS:
BS or BA degree in an information technology related field
Prior Experience in Higher Education
ITIL v4. Foundations Certification, Microsoft Certification (Azure Administrator Associate, Teams Administrator Associate, Security Administrator Associate) or similar
Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructures
Experience with Enterprise Servers and Hardware (i.e. Hewlett Packard or Dell)
Experience with Exchange
PowerShell/Scripting tools languages
Microsoft SQL Server Administration
Experience with the following technologies: WAN, LAN, router management, firewall technologies, data switching, Proxy Services

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens in performing work assignments required.
