  • Join four in-depth product training sessions to learn the inner workings of Lever's talent acquisition suite and pre-built integrations; pass a series of exams to become a certified product expert

  • Learn Lever's go-to-market messaging, key differentiators, and segment-specific value propositions: participate in the same sales training program as Mid-Market Account Executives, shadow three customer-facing meetings with each Account Executive you support

  • Complete sales certification; deliver a mock pitch and product demonstration to a group of Account Executives and sales leaders, qualifying you to work on full-cycle deals

WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU'LL:

  • Deliver product demonstrations and technical presentations to potential customers, leading to your first closed won deal

  • Participate in two advanced technical training courses: infrastructure, security controls, and certifications; complete a practice questionnaire (reviewed by your manager) to ensure you can answer comprehensive security and compliance questions; and API and potential applications, including custom careers pages, HR system integrations, business intelligence systems, and event monitoring; architect and build a custom solution to complete a final capstone project

  • Become a strategic partner to Mid-Market Sales, achieve your individual new bookings goal, and help the team hit their quarterly revenue goals

WITHIN 6 MONTHS, YOU'LL:

  • Continue to partner with Mid-Market Sales, reach an even higher individual bookings goal, and increase new business win rates by:

  • Leading in person product demonstrations that showcase how Lever solves modern recruiting challenges

  • Meeting with IT and security professionals to handle technical objections and mitigate any concerns that might block a deal

  • Designing custom solutions and proof-of-concepts that illustrate how Lever augments the systems and processes our customers already have in place

WITHIN 12 MONTHS, YOU'LL:

  • Identify, implement, and document process improvements; tackle projects that contribute the continued success of the Sales Engineering organization

  • Master Mid-Market sales engineering, choosing to develop your teammates in that segment or move up market and begin working Enterprise deals

We are looking for great teammates that can build sales presentations, product demonstrations, and educate customers (everyone from developers to product managers to C-level executives) on the best ways to cloud security technology. We believe in Okta's Sales Engineers empathize with customers and quickly discern their true technical needs by asking detailed and clarifying questions and presenting solutions that target those needs. You have the rare combination of technical savviness and business insight and you're looking for a career where you can utilize both. As a Sales Engineer at Okta, you will hone each of these skills by advising a diverse set of customers on what is possible using Okta's Identity Platform. Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Support the sales team in helping customers understand what they can achieve with Okta * Understand customer requirements and communicate the business value of solving technology problems using cloud technology * Execute the delivery of POCs for customers that have more complex use cases, collaborating with other Okta engineering teams as needed * Craft technical content to show customers how to implement specific use cases or standard methodologies for new technologies * Prepare demos and proof of concepts to demonstrate various use cases for Okta's Platform * Distill and communicate customer needs and product feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing and Sales Required Skills: * 5+ years of Sales Engineering Experience * A passion to serve the customer, which has played out in some customer-facing role like consulting or support, ideally sales engineering * An ability to quickly communicate complex ideas around a technical topic, ideally on the fly at a whiteboard * Experience with at least one standard network security protocol (eg. OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP) * We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: web (JavaScript, HTML, frontend frameworks) development, mobile (iOS, Android) development, backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby) development, IP-based real-time communications * An understanding of core security concerns within a typical application (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF) * You are an elite communicator * Confident dispensing knowledge to a highly skilled and experienced audience. * Typically 10-25% travel * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field is preferred.
