Our collaborative and problem-solving approach working with researchers to validate, challenge and extend their work fits well within the overall goals of commercialization. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our CTTEC department as an Associate Manager, Business Development and Licensing. Reporting to the Director, and working with the Associate Director and Managers on specific activities and/or projects, you will be responsible for the evaluation of invention disclosures, negotiation of intellectual property agreements, coordinating the protection of intellectual property, and developing business cases for spin-off companies. Working independently, you will maintain databases of technologies available for licensing, and with the input of the Director, Associate Director, and Business Manager, develop financial models for CTTEC expenses and expected revenues, aggregate CTTEC data for reporting purposes, and develop proposals and budgets for solicitation of funding in support of CTTEC activities. Your core responsibilities include: * In collaboration with the Associate Director and Managers, perform invention evaluation, including compilation of sufficient background information on technology, potential markets, and licensee candidates to support sound university decision-making on the business case for investment in intellectual property protection and licensing; seeking the advice of appropriate experts both inside and outside the university; and present concepts for review to advisory review panels. * In collaboration with the Associate Director and Managers, develop and negotiate the terms and details of assigned license agreements and coordinate legal review of proposed agreements. * Develop and negotiate non-disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, inter-institutional agreements, evaluation agreements, assignment agreements and other agreements as assigned. * Assist Managers with the management of communication with patent attorneys; participate in meetings with inventors and/or patent attorneys; assist in obtaining necessary authorization for actions of patent attorneys representing the university in intellectual property matters; assist in obtaining any necessary information and/or signatures from inventors on intellectual property documents; under the supervision of Managers, drafting Provisional patent applications, as assigned. * Under the supervision of the Director and in collaboration with the Associate Director, and Managers, develop business cases for emerging spin-off companies, including market research activities, business plan development and financial modeling. * Perform financial modeling for CTTEC receivables and expenditures, such as projected patent costs and expected royalties; aggregate performance data to support CTTEC marketing activities (ex. annual report content), and reporting activities (ex. AUTM, NIH). * Update the CTTEC website specifically posting new technologies and licensing opportunities. * Maintain productive relationships with all campus and external organizations that play a role in technology transfer and enterprise creation. * Pursue appropriate continuing education opportunities. * Propose new or revised operating procedures that can improve workflow or process performance.
