What you will do!

The primary purpose of an Enterprise Remote Services Administrator position, specializing in Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and IT Security, is to manage and optimize remote access services, ensuring secure, efficient, and highly available connectivity for remote users and devices while prioritizing data protection and IT security. This position may act as backup to Senior Enterprise Remote Service Administrators. Here is a detailed overview of the primary purpose and responsibilities of the position:

1.Remote Services Management: The primary role is to design, configure, and manage remote access services, including Citrix and VDI, to facilitate secure remote access to applications and data. This includes deployment, maintenance, and optimization of the remote service infrastructure.

2.Security Implementation: Ensuring the security of remote access services is a top priority. This role focuses on implementing security best practices, policies, and controls to protect sensitive data and access to resources, with a specific emphasis on IT security and ZTNA principles.

3.Access Control and Authentication: Design and implement access control mechanisms and authentication protocols to ensure that only authorized users and devices can access remote services. This includes strong identity and access management practices.

4.Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA): Expertise in ZTNA principles and the implementation of zero-trust security models, which emphasize continuous verification and strict access controls for every user and device, regardless of location.

5.Vulnerability Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating vulnerabilities within the remote service infrastructure is a critical responsibility. The Administrator monitors for security weaknesses and addresses them promptly to minimize potential threats.

6.Compliance and Policy Enforcement: Develop and enforce policies to ensure that remote services comply with industry standards, security regulations, and ZTNA principles. This includes defining policies for configuration management, user access, and data protection.

7.Patch Management: Implement and oversee a systematic approach to patch management for remote service components, including operating systems, applications, and infrastructure, to keep systems up-to-date and secure.

8.Monitoring and Incident Response: Continuously monitor remote access services for security events, anomalies, and compliance with established security standards. When security incidents or technical issues arise, the Administrator leads incident response efforts, investigates the problem, and implements corrective measures.

9.Documentation and Best Practices: Maintain thorough documentation of remote service configurations, security measures, and best practices, which are essential for ensuring proper system operation and security.



  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with IT teams, security teams, and other relevant departments to ensure that remote services align with organizational goals and standards. Effective communication is crucial for coordinating efforts.

  2. Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and guidance to IT staff and end-users on secure remote service practices, ZTNA principles, and procedures to enhance the organization's security posture.

  3. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest security threats and trends, regularly update remote service systems to incorporate security enhancements, and seek opportunities to improve the organization's remote service infrastructure and security practices.

What we are looking for:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(a) Six (6) years of information systems experience in:

managing and optimizing remote access services including Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), with a focus in IT Security;

OR

(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;

AND

four (4) years of information systems experience in:

managing and optimizing remote access services including Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), with a focus in IT Security;);

OR

(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

AND

two (2) years of information systems experience in:

managing and optimizing remote access services including Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), with a focus in IT Security;

OR

(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Working Conditions

Must be able to lift 40 pounds. The location of this position is in an office, cubicle, and/or an agreed upon remote work environment with significant use of a computer and video conferencing. At times, weekend and evening work will be necessary to meet customer demands and department deadlines. This position requires the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, sometimes within short time frames. From time to time, may require long hours with night and weekend work and occasional travel.

  • Knowledge:

  • Citrix and VDI Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Citrix technologies, including XenApp, XenDesktop, and Citrix Gateway, as well as VDI solutions like VMware Horizon or Microsoft Virtual Desktop. Understanding of how these systems function, their components, and best practices for configuration.

  • IT Security Fundamentals: A strong foundation in IT security concepts, including access control, authentication, encryption, and network security.

  • Security Standards and Compliance: Familiarity with security standards and compliance frameworks, such as CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks, NIST, ISO 27001, and industry-specific regulations.

  • Remote Access Technologies: Knowledge of remote access technologies, VPNs, SSL/TLS protocols, secure tunneling, and secure remote access solutions.

  • Networking: Understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, firewall configurations, load balancing, and network segmentation.

  • Operating Systems: Proficiency in Windows Server and desktop operating systems, including the ability to configure, manage, and troubleshoot them.

  • Virtualization Technologies: Knowledge of virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix Hypervisor.

  • Active Directory and Identity Management: Understanding of Active Directory services, group policies, and identity management in a Windows environment.

  • Storage and Data Management: Knowledge of storage technologies, SAN, NAS, and data management best practices for VDI environments.

  • Cloud Integration: Familiarity with cloud technologies and their integration with VDI solutions, especially in the context of hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) and automation tools to streamline administrative tasks and configurations.

  • Skills:

  • Citrix and VDI Configuration: Ability to design, configure, and manage Citrix and VDI environments for optimal performance and user experience.

  • IT Security: Skill in implementing security measures and controls, including access control, authentication, encryption, and vulnerability management.

  • Security Compliance: Capability to enforce security policies, standards, and compliance requirements, including CIS benchmarks, and conduct audits for adherence.

  • Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues related to Citrix, VDI, and security configurations.

  • Network Management: Proficiency in network configuration, including firewall rules, VPN setup, and secure network design.

  • Identity and Access Management: Skill in managing user identities, access controls, and integrating secure authentication methods.

  • Monitoring and Logging: Ability to set up monitoring tools and analyze logs for security incidents and performance optimization.

  • Documentation: Strong documentation skills to maintain detailed records of configurations, policies, and security measures.

  • Collaboration: Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with IT teams, security teams, and other departments to align with organizational goals.
