What is this career opportunity?

We seek a proven leader with the vision and expertise to guide innovative enterprise platform delivery into the future for the State of Montana. As the head of the Enterprise Platforms Bureau, you would direct, supervise, and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the bureau made up of four sections, with work related to ServiceNow, Microsoft O365, Okta, Microsoft AD, multifactor authentication, Splunk, Tanium and more. Additionally, the division operates under a proprietary funding structure, similar-to a private business who must effectively sell its services to agencies within state government to remain financially viable. The Enterprise Platforms Bureau is integral to this critical revenue stream for the Division, therefore the incumbent should also possess strong business acumen and build professional relationships with agency partners to ensure continued success. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills; a deep understanding of enterprise platforms; and the ability to manage, motivate, build collaboration, and relate to people effectively within the bureau, division, and enterprise.

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, networking or related field;

  • Four years' experience guiding IT objectives for a business area;

  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

Knowledge of:

  • Budget, service rate setting, and asset management principles;

  • ServiceNow platform;

  • Ui ux design;

  • ITIL;

  • Microsoft O365;

  • Use of cloud platforms (SaaS, PaaS);

  • Identity management;

  • IT governance best practices.

  • SAFe agile principles

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Conflict management skills.

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex issues and develop effective solutions.

Ability to:

  • Lead and inspire a team of platform engineers, architects system administrators and support staff.

  • Build strong relationships and consensus among a group of varying internal and external stakeholders;

  • Apply strategic and tactical business acumen to technical areas and solutions;

  • Demonstrate effective customer service principles;

  • Mentor, manage, and guide both managerial and technical staff;

  • Manage IT professionals in a project-driven environment;

  • Provide leadership, vision and direction for IT professionals;

  • Delegate projects to ensure multiple and competing priorities are met;

  • Define and redefine IT services offerings to customers;

  • Formulate and direct the development of objectives, budgets, and staff activities.
