Enterprise Monitor Engineer


The Enterprise Monitor Engineer primary responsibility is building technical tools and dashboards scripts to consolidate and report on data from multiple sources and applications systems. Will contribute to design sessions reviews, unit testing, ensure quality deliverables and releases.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Create, modify and test the code, forms and script

  • Work from specifications drawn up by software developers

  • Develops technical designs for self and others as required

  • Conducts programming tasks including program design, program coding, debugging and documentation

  • Debugs monitor/alerts across n-tiers of code

  • Implements unit testing within own monitors

  • Participate in peer code reviews

  • Monitors effective language codes, processing routines, hardware use and use of database management techniques

  • Drive overall monitor testability

  • May assist software developers by analyzing user needs and designing software solutions

  • May develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data and information

  • May provide guidance and training to enable other team members to meet/exceed expectations.

  • Gathers, verifies, and educates others on technical requirements

  • Discovers and shares lessons learned and best practices

  • Documents and updates new and existing documentation with latest learnings

  • Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.

  • Works on multiple projects concurrently

  • Works across teams to achieve group goals

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Participates in user/external group discussions

  • Contributes to improving processes and tools that relate to the team's execution and overall productivity

  • Familiar with and contributes to engineering best practices

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in an IT environment

  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience supporting multiple applications/systems (with system engineering, networking, or application development)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with SQL Server or other RDMS. Knowledge of NonSQL databases is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Experience with any of the following: Splunk, SCOM, Thousandeyes, AppDynamics, Solarwinds, Idera, Extrahop, and/or Foglight

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Demonstrate effective initiative, organizational and analytical skills, attention to details, judgment and follow through

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with technical, business, and management staff

  • Willing to learn and develop new skill sets as applicable

  • Experience with incident management logging/tracking systems (preferably Jira)

We are seeking an Enterprise Risk Management Testing Analyst to join the Enterprise Monitoring and Testing team and conduct reviews related to credit risk, operational risk, information technology risk, compliance risk, etc. The Enterprise Risk Management Testing team is part of EWB's Enterprise Risk Management department and provides an independent oversight function within the second line of defense, by developing, implementing and maintaining a consolidated monitoring and testing program at the corporate level. This team is responsible for developing repeatable testing standards with common methodology, providing governance and oversight, execution of testing program, reporting and communication of results to management, and tracking of exceptions. Responsibilities * Plan and execute risk reviews according to the established review schedule and on an ad hoc basis, if necessary, * Monitor and test to validate that key assumptions, data sources, and procedures utilized in measuring and monitoring risk and internal controls can be relied upon on an ongoing basis and, in the case of transaction testing, that controls are working as intended, * Monitor and test adherence with Bank's policies and controls, as well as regulatory requirements, * Evaluate internal controls and identify deficiencies through the monitoring and testing reviews, * Provide recommendations to business units on how to remediate deficiencies identified as a result of testing activities to maintain an effective internal control framework, * Clearly write reports that articulate results and root cause and present to key business unit stakeholders, * Assist in investigation and reporting of issues, conducting inquires, obtaining and reviewing necessary documents and interviewing personnel, as appropriate, * Maintain an understanding of business operations, operational risks and regulatory guidance/expectations, * Anticipate changes in the internal and external environment and adapt the testing program accordingly, * Work collaboratively with peers, business units and other key partners.
